Old long spoons
 

Was up at my brother's new place, helping get it ready for him to move in. He brought down the family old long spoons so we could mount them in his new shop.

Nice. What's te family history with these guns?

They've been in the family for some time. I think my mom got them when her mom passed.
Back in the '70's we had some neighbors that were into this type of guns and they actually took the hair trigger squirrel gun mechanism apart as it is a very fine hair trigger. They'd never seen one that was so sensitive. They made impressions of the pieces so they could replicate it. Don't know if they ever did.

If it were me I would have a muzzle loader expert/gunsmith go through them and then if the bore doesn't look too bad, fire away. You would need a bit of black powder, pillow ticking, pure lead round balls, several new nipples and some percussion caps. The age can be let slide and we have some shooters at our monthly matches that shoot rifles from the revolutionary war! Just make sure the gunsmith knows what he is doing and use light (30 to 40 grains of FFG powder) and you should be fine.

The oldest rifle I have was made in 1905 and oldest pistol was 1861. They shoot just fine.
