Disneyworld

Any talk of Disney (Orlando) shutting down due to Coronavirus?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1584014040.jpg

I have not seen anything in the local news reporting such.

berettafan 03-12-2020 05:39 AM

i love Disney. Been going my entire life.

That said, the mouse is one greedy mother****er.

The reason I ask, is because my wife is booked in for next week, but I'm thinking
it's one of the busiest places possible, and I can't see it NOT shutting down.

Really I'd like my wife NOT to travel across borders when the possiblity of getting stranded for weeks due to this virus is large.

It's up to her whether or not she cancels, so.... I wouldn't be sad to see Mickey shut it down.

Hmmm, even worse, after Sis-in-law goes to Disney, she will be exposed and she should stay away from mom for 2 weeks!

Self quarantine, Sorry sis, not safe to bring mom here....

Relative works there. Attendance is down so many part-time employees are not getting any hours. No talk of a shut-down, at the employee level anyway.

Not likely they will shut it down at this point but that could change as this very fluid situation changes.

Would I get on a plane, cross international borders, and visit a theme park filled with an international crowd from around the world right now? No sir. Even though the chance of her getting the virus and getting seriously ill is small. If one person on any of her flights tests positive, she may be subjected to 2 weeks quarantine on some military base in no mans land. Not the vacation she was looking for.

You are spot on C daddy, and my wife has cancelled because not worth the risk.

I think people are seeing what is happening in Italy, and being proactive. I'm not worried about over caution, it is the ''brave'' fools grabbing microphones and living in denial who scare me.

yellowperil 03-13-2020 02:56 AM

Disneyworld shutting down March 15.

Tobra 03-13-2020 06:36 AM

Shutting it down in Anaheim tomorrow. My daughter and her family were coming home today anyway.

Thousands will be out of work at Disney. When was they last time if ever were the parks closed?

Yesterday I worked with a man who's daughter got on a plane to Germany. I asked him if he was afraid she'd be stuck there, and he replied that she'd be there for 8 months. Apparently she's an ice dancer at a German theme park, and even if the park closes she is guaranteed a salary.

Can 't speak for Disneyworld, but Disneyland has only closed three times since its opening in 1955. It closed in 1963 after the JFK assassination, in 1994 following the Northridge Earthquake, and in 2001 following 9/11.

Disneyland says it will continue to pay its employees during this current shutdown. Not clear as to which employees, however.

At least one of the hurricanes. They even disassembled the castle.
