March Madness will be a lot less "mad"
and less enjoyable too. Imagine a 12 seed beating a 3 seed with only the winning bench cheering. Like watch the tourney on mute.
![]() https://www.boston.com/sports/college-sports/2020/03/11/march-madness-coronavirus It's just a matter of time before the Masters does the same. Not as big an impact on that event, from a TV perspective anyway. But bad for the town of Augusta and vendors if it does happen.

Freaking stupid and ridiculous. Just discount the tickets I'd go in a heartbeat.

.whipped. it sucks. I agree. Buy it ain't about YOU dying, it's about your non-symptomatic self passing it on to the much more fragile among us. Like my FIL, who is in treatment.

Flu killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 30,000 people through February per the CDC and nobody blinked. 29 dead and the sheeple are hoarding toilet paper and everything is cancelled.

yeah, people are freaking out. Some rightly so IMO. Hopefully folks will follow protocol and stay away from jam packed areas, like sporting events, and testing will finally get rolled out soon. A little bit of caution could save a bunch of lives, fair trade off to me.

Is the flu vaccine perfect and 100% effective, no, but it's an effective rev limiter. There are no brakes for this thing yet which means if it gets rolling it's gonna pick up steam real fast. Point being, we can't wait for it to get bad before we start reacting.

Banned but not out, yet..

I am all for renting a stadium for all who still want to see the games and think this whole thing is BS as long as the players can be isolated from them. Like a large air bubble over the court with a separate air source. Then all the spectators get put on a cruise ship for a four week cruise. Anyone with symptoms Stays at sea until they are better, or not and get buried there. Sounds like a great deal. Game and a cruise, what a way to go.

Keep in mind these numbers are for an illness for which we have a vaccine. We have been dealing with it for years, know what to expect and are ready for it with adequate ventilators and hospital beds for people who are sick with it and still 20,000 people have died. COVID-19 illnesses are in addition to the flu, and we have no vaccine for COVID-19 and not enough ventilators and hospital beds to accommodate an outbreak. As Scott said, "There are no brakes for this thing yet which means if it gets rolling it's gonna pick up steam real fast." "CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 34 million flu illnesses, 350,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 deaths from flu." https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm

The over reaction on an election year makes me scratch my head in wonderment, all in an attempt to truly claim that "Trump tanked the market" !

I don't think you guys are going to have to worry about "boring" games now.

That's exactly what it is all about. It's no mistake that academia is the first group to jump on board and cancel things.

If you look back over the last 20 years there does seem to be a strong correlation between election years and global pandemics. I’m not a conspiracy theory guy but....
