In honor of the 50th anniversary of WAR’s legendary album and song “Why Can’t We Be Friends," Playing For Change brings together the original remaining members of WAR with over 30 musicians from across the globe for this powerful new Song Around The World that transcends borders and generations.

Just in time for the holidays, and in a moment when the world may feel more divided than ever, this global collaboration reminds us of the simple truth at the heart of the song: music has the power to connect us, heal us, and be a beckon for global solidarity.

Featuring joyous sounds of PFC Band’s Titi Tsira, soulful trombonist Big Sam, the vibrancy of Mariachi Tierra Noble, and introducing the amazing talent of River Eckert, this rendition captures the infectious groove, heart, and humanity that made WAR one of the most influential bands of all time.

From New Orleans to South Africa, voices and instruments unite in the universal language of rhythm and in the spirit of friendship, proving that even fifty years later, WAR’s message is timeless and music is more than art; it’s a pathway to unity, connection, and hope.

Written by: Thomas "Papa Dee" Allen, Harold Brown, B.B. Dickerson, Lonnie Jordan, Charles Miller, Lee Oskar, Howard E. Scott and Jerry Goldstein.

All of it, for sure. But more than anything, Max on the keys is what makes me smile so much during this Jeff Beck era........

Some Neil Young love resurfacing... This cover of "Unknown Legend" makes me like the song more. It starts at 0:52, but the first minute is nice enough.

So sad. I thought those two were perfect for each other. Obviously I know nothing.

(Baz' penny-loafers at 1:20)

(Great stuff and I like it. I'm imagining the Boojums at top volume in a club that holds 50 people all bouncing up and down to the waves of noise on a Friday night...)
