Joker

Watched it last night on HBO.
Outstanding.
I never thought I would say that about one of the Batman movies. (Although I do enjoy them)

Saw it about a week ago - didn't care for it.

I didn't like it either.

sammyg2 05-27-2020 11:31 AM

First time I saw it I didn't much care for it because of the BS social preachy crap.

Later I watched it again and focused on the entertainment value, the acting, the movie and not the politicial stuff.
It was much better then second go-around.*

* deniro is still as huge horse's-ass. :)

The "story" is horrible. I mean a guy that just keeps getting worse and worse.

The acting, fantastic.

So I love/hate the movie. The actor deserved an Academy Award.

The original Batman comic was far darker, including people getting killed. I believe it was one of the reasons for the comic book code.

Was looking forward to it, but when I actually watched it last weekend I just shrugged.

The Animated one with Kelly Cuoco is excellent! SmileWavy

It is REALLY interesting to see the list of voice actors!

I thought the Joker movie did a good job of showing how the Joker had so many followers. The acting was great.

Wow! Glad I watched it but can’t imagine watching it again. Glad my wife didn’t. Joaquin Phoenix’s acting was amazing.

Just watched it, liked it. Why? It always reminded itself that it's a damned freaking COMIC BOOK MOVIE. For that, it was excellent. Explosions, forth wall breaks, random timeline changes, explosions, absurd villains, explosions, and even though it had the chance, it never really went into the "we have a blond hottie to exploit" like part 1 kinda did...

As far as a high quality piece of cinema? No way. But fun anyways.

Shifter 05-27-2020 08:52 PM

Got about thirty seconds into the trailer. Nope. Not interested.

sc_rufctr 05-27-2020 11:03 PM

I watched it in the cinemas when it was first released.

Yes, it was a good film but I have no desire to re-watch it.

I thought it was brilliant, but I have had several chances to see it again, and I don't have any motivation to. The abused becomes the abuser, and finds it freeing and empowering. Got it. I got sucked in though, and they are apparently making a sequel. In a way, I hope it is a little less Taxi Driver, and a little more comic book entertainment. At least in the comics, the Joker knows he isn't really happy, but he can't help himself. Here he embraces his inner sociopath. The implications are more unsettling than the movie itself.

I didn't think anyone would ever top Heath Ledger for being dark and oddly disturbing as the Joker, and yet here we are.

From last October, simpler times.
