Screw 'em all

The news outlets, the rioters, the virus lockdown, elected leaders, etc. Just screw all of it!

I've been promising my old, slow, and obsolete Mustang an afternoon of detailing...today's the day. Just me, the car, my magic potions of cleanliness, with an oldies rock station on the garage radio.

See y'all later tonight or tomorrow...SmileWavy

Enjoy. I'm jealous from the depths of the salt mines.

vash 06-01-2020 12:20 PM

I record the national and local news, and end up fast forwarding through most of it.

China flu: we all are gonna died, we are all gonna die!

POTUS: he said something that is terribly offensive and look at all the offended people, we will interview and talk to all the offended people and tell you why you should be offended too.

Riot and burn and steal a big screen TV and some diapers and liquor to solve the the police brutality in a state 1,500 miles away!

Off switch.

I can watch it in seconds, and look for some real news in between but it is had to find.

onewhippedpuppy 06-01-2020 12:42 PM

You just summarized why I don’t watch the news!

RWebb 06-01-2020 01:10 PM

I thought this was going to be a thread about pitch angle of UNF threads!

Exactly, it takes me even less time to watch than Paul since I don't record or watch at all. I just wait for all of the pertinent and factual stuff to show up on FacePlant!!
(it was really hard to type that with a straight face)

I felt so much that way yesterday i went out into the garage, put an oldies rock station on the radio & polished the headlight lenses on my wife's car.

Por_sha911 06-01-2020 05:27 PM

My escape from it all was a nice drive on the Tail of the Dragon Saturday afternoon. Sunny, warm not hot, windows down, and the B&B exhaust as a sound track for 318 curves in 11 miles. I came back with this big grin on my face :D

I watch a little local news, mostly for the weather, then panic master David Muir comes on and I turn it. Off until Jeopardy.

Where do you find an "oldies" radio station? The one that supposedly plays oldies in L.A. (KRTH 101.1) plays Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson and Eurythmics all day long, over and over. They might throw in some Eagles now and then (not as bad).

I'd hate my car if I had to listen to that siht while detailing.

Once upon a time, there was music about cars.

rusnak 06-02-2020 07:48 AM

screw radio. Even that's too "news"ey for me. I buy music and download only the songs I like. Even Pandora - newwwp!

Too many commercials for me.

I usually pull up a full album on youtube if in the mood for music when car fiddling.

fastfredracing 06-02-2020 08:34 AM

Ive put myself on a very strict news , FB, and Parf diet. Instantly noticed an uptick in my mood and general feeling of well being .
The world is ****ed.

I have weeded back my Facebook list to people that don't post much political crap. It is for funny stuff, or science, or friends and family with news of their families and happenings. If someone get political, I stop following them. They just go away. And that goes for either side of the politics, left or right, gone.

I gave up on regular radio long ago. So many commercials, and the same 50 songs over and over. I listen to Pandora. I pay the subscription cost which is a bargain. If they try to sneak in a clunker song, thumbs down, and it is never presented to me again. I have Pandora playing now on my computer, and when in the garage, I use my wife's older iPad and WiFi to play Pandora on some computer speakers. It sounds great, and same subscription as the computer. I can stream Pandora to my car stereo from my iPhone, but almost never do. I have a thumb drive with 16 gig of my music I recorded from my CDs in both cars.

The rock radio station in our little local town is world class. They play a little bit of everything, and in the last 2 years of listening to them, I have yet to get burn out .
The big Pittsburgh rock and roll station ... George Thurogood, stairway to heaven , Love in an elevator, Juke box hero etc.. Same crap playlist they had in 1985. I don't even understand why radio stations stick to this format. Surely , they will be the next forms of media to vanish .

ckelly78z 06-02-2020 09:10 AM

I have tried to sit, and watch the national "news", but can see right through most stories as the agenda filled narrative, virtue signaling that it is. I am patient, and don't need up to the minute updates on anything except possibly the weather.

I will also wait for the pertinent information to filter through websites like this one, sometimes, I read our local newspaper (hard copy, not online).

pwd72s 06-02-2020 09:53 AM

There is now a 2009 Bullitt Mustang with 31.643 miles on it's odo sitting in my garage shining like a diamond in a...whatever.

Nowhere to go...my favorite pool hall still closed.

Milt is spot on...Rock n' roll has been going downhill since Buddy Holly died...

livi 06-02-2020 09:58 AM

Me, on the other hand, decided to crack open a 12 year old Scotch.
