They're going to de-orbit the ISS within the next five years. With no space station to fly to how will NASA justify keeping astronauts around. It will be at least another ten years before we actually go back to the moon (if we ever do).
I'm a big fan of manned space flight but I would hate to be an astronaut waiting for my turn that may never come

earthquake caused a mud/rock slide down a mountain into the end of the bay/cove which was kind of a valley on the coast. The mud/rock slide that slide into the end of the bay caused a wave to flow up and over the other side of the "valley". I saw a show (history channel, Nat Geo, something like that) on it once. IIRC, there were boats in the bay/cove (which has a narrow mouth) that were carried on the resulting wave out of the bay over the fingers that separated the bay/cove from the ocean. The lighter areas of the shore are where trees and soil were washed away by the wave. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:

Thanks for that, Steve.
I looked up Lituya Bay...seen here in the middle. I was wondering if the area was now populated. Nope!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One of my friends worked as an investigator for a large company. One employee was out on workers comp from a back injury and claimed he had to walk with crutches. They filmed him water skiing at a local lake, and building a stockade fence at his house. His claim was denied in court, and he was fired. ![]()

Sometimes I wonder how a bug can fly around in the car going 70mph. It just seems wrong.
