Goodyear ZNPK-28 Blimp Control Car - "Gift of Goodyear The Museum's control car is from airship K-28, one of 134 K-category airships built by Goodyear in Akron, OH between 1938 and 1944 for the purposes of anti-submarine patrol and convoy protection, mine sweeping, search and rescue and photography. Post-WWII, Goodyear purchased and converted six K-class airships including K-28, along with seven L-class airships, from the Government to resume its fleet operations. Renamed the "Puritan," it became the prototype to test a programmable light display system to be used to display advertising. Due to the weight of the light system, the interior was stripped of all none-essential equipment. - http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675802723.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675802723.jpg The 1932 Talbot 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer was made from Honduran mahogany. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675802723.jpg The LAST Muncie 4-Speed trans ever produced. Back in the old days before radio stations became monopolized,
performers toured to promote record sales and radio play which they made money from. But they didn't make much from the concerts. Nowadays, it's just the opposite. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675810603.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675810637.jpg |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675952757.jpg The Temple of the Moon is one of Machu Picchu’s best-kept secrets. Located on the backside of Machu Picchu, explorers must descend approximately one thousand stone stairs to find this stunning precision mortarless white granite temple built into this mountainous cave. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675952757.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675952757.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675952757.jpg Strangler Fig Tree (genus Ficus): One of the most remarkable hemiepiphytes is the towering strangler fig tree which starts life as a tiny seed in the canopy of a random tree. The roots grow down to the forest floor where they take root and begin to take nutrients from the soil. Gradually the roots wrap around the host tree, widen, and slowly form a lattice work that surrounds the host's trunk. The fig's crown grows foliage which soon overshadows the tree. Eventually, the host tree dies leaving the fig with a hollow trunk which is easily climbed thanks to the many openings in the trunk. Figs sometimes help anchor tropical trees during bad storms and are often the only tree species remaining after forest clearing, since their knotted and twisted wood is shunned by loggers. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675952757.jpg “I tell ya, my wife is never nice. The grey-scale of the photo suggests winter otherwise but that could just be the photographer. There are no rivers or water behind. There are forests which suggest it a rather small city. Other adjacent buildings are smaller. This building is brand new. And huge. It is a tall building on the edge of some place. China or Eastern Europe would be my guess, but it would only be a guess. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1675992251.jpg |

An early computer game, one of the first games developed in the history of video games. Built in Toronto by Josef Kates for the 1950 Canadian National Exhibition. The 4 m tall computer allowed attendees to play a game of tic-tac-toe against the computer. The machine had an adjustable difficulty level. The Additron was a unique tube made for the University of Toronto Electronic Computer (UTEC). A normal tube-based computer would require several tubes to perform addition, the additron used beam switching to perform the operations of a full adder in a single package. The Rogers 6047 tube and its variations could have revolutionized tube computing, allowing those computers to shrink by a factor of 10, but before it could really get off the ground in real designs, transistors, and later, integrated circuits would take over. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1676128463.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1676128463.jpg |
