Tommy Olsen of ITG Racing has been mesmerizing us over on the S Registry with his machined from billet 2.0 liter cases for historic racing. Here is an example of the same cases, essentially, with much closer stepover: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1636589508.jpg |
dayum, it's not the prettiest block I've ever seen , but amazing and very cool to have that kind of machining abilities available .
Imagine if he would apply himself to making a Type 912 block and i'm not talking the car model but the engine model eg 917 block. So this https://i.pinimg.com/originals/86/c2...e12317ea27.jpg in billet |

I'm just used to seeing a much finer stepover or no visible step over between cutting paths F1 machined parts are designed to the lowest possible safety factor so every detail is critical Final machined quality of the below parts is what I'm used and expect so that picture hurt my eyes  Hydraulic steering rack http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1636664802.jpg Gearbox casing cover plate, probably not top team F1 or even F1 as it's just not got the right attention to detail level, at a guess if could be a Formula E part http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1636664840.jpg Used this company, some pictures of their machining quality  Sectors - Blackmore Precision Engineering Pushed the design so far on wall thicknesses that the internal surfaces required supporting when the outer surfaces were final machined to stop the part deflecting away from the cutter |
