This engine displaces 16.5 litres (1,006 cu in) and is coupled with a gas turbine engine (seen on the right side of the engine in the image). The gas turbine functions as a suped-up turbocharger, forcing air into the engine at much greater pressures than convetional turbochargers - hence the name "hyperbar". The gas turbine can also function as an auxliary motor to power the tank's systems without the main engine running. The V8X-1500 produces up to 1,500 hp and 4,850 Nm (3,780 ft lb) of torque. It has suffered from some reliability problems, but these have reportedly been solved http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701269187.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701269187.jpg |

In 1973, Artz built a Porsche 911-powered Volkswagen that caught the attention of many people, leading him to establish his modification business ARTZ, a subsidiary of Nordstadt. To create this Volkswagen Mr. Artz combined several vehicles. It started with the body of a VW 1302 (flat glass), the chassis of a 914 and the mechanics of a Porsche 911. While the car was being manufactured VW launched the 1303 (round glass) Mr. Artz then decided to put the roof from the 1303 onto his project. To achieve that factory “look”, almost everything on the 3 platforms was modified, 1000 hours were used in welding alone! In the end the result was a Volkswagen 1303 “mid engine” with 210hp and a 5speed in a chassis that could keep up with the best sports cars of its time. That would be fun to show up to Porsche car club and drive that. |

ARKANSAS: The Marked Tree Siphons installation, dating to 1939, is said to be the only engineering structure of its kind in the United States. Built at a cost of $215,000, the three steel tubes integral to the design were among the largest in the world, with diameters of nine feet and lengths of 228 feet. As described by the Arkansas encyclopedia, "Their operation was deceptively simple. First, a vacuum pump primed each siphon. Once the siphon was primed, the vacuum pump was turned off, and the flow was self-sustaining. An air valve regulated the rate of flow." Once activated, the siphons can run indefinitely, powered only by gravity. Eight decades later, the pumping process still functions properly after an overhaul in the 1990s. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701361852.jpg Grandma's new gravy container she picked up at the garage sale. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701361852.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701361852.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701361852.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1701361852.jpg |

https://encyclopediaofarkansas.net/entries/marked-tree-siphons-3999/ Just a few excerpts Quote:
http://arkansasroadstories.com/engineering/siphon1.jpg |
