http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705117499.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705117499.jpg "Against a stunning backdrop of thousands of galaxies, this odd-looking galaxy with the long streamer of stars appears to be racing through space, like a runaway pinwheel firework. This picture of the galaxy UGC 10214 was taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS), which was installed aboard NASA's Hubble Space Telescope in March during Servicing Mission 3B. Dubbed the "Tadpole," this spiral galaxy is unlike the textbook images of stately galaxies. Its distorted shape was caused by a small interloper, a very blue, compact galaxy visible in the upper left corner of the more massive Tadpole. The Tadpole resides about 420 million light-years away in the constellation Draco. Seen shining through the Tadpole's disk, the tiny intruder is likely a hit-and-run galaxy that is now leaving the scene of the accident. Strong gravitational forces from the interaction created the long tail of debris, consisting of stars and gas that stretch out more than 280,000 light-years. Numerous young blue stars and star clusters, spawned by the galaxy collision, are seen in the spiral arms, as well as in the long "tidal" tail of stars. Each of these clusters represents the formation of up to about a million stars. Their color is blue because they contain very massive stars, which are 10 times hotter and 1 million times brighter than our Sun. Once formed, the star clusters become redder with age as the most massive and bluest stars exhaust their fuel and burn out. These clusters will eventually become old globular clusters similar to those found in essentially all halos of galaxies, including our own Milky Way. Two prominent clumps of young bright blue stars in the long tail are separated by a "gap" - a section that is fainter than the rest of the tail. These clumps of stars will likely become dwarf galaxies that orbit in the Tadpole's halo." http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705117499.jpg Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a Amanita of the genus Amanita. It is a large white-gilled, white-spotted, and usually red mushroom. Despite its easily distinguishable features, A. muscaria is a fungus with several known variations, or subspecies. These subspecies are slightly different, some having yellow or white caps, but are all usually called fly agarics, most often recognizable by their notable white spots. Recent DNA fungi research, however, has shown that some mushrooms called 'fly agaric' are in fact unique species, such as A. persicina (the peach-colored fly agaric). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705117499.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705117499.jpg |

100 Mpg Carburetors: Do They Really Work?

Injecting water vapor with gas to increase expansion pressure?
Why the heck not? Manufacturers and government say "NO". Quote:
"Everyone gets excited about them and then, for no apparent reason, they disappear. Often, it's the EPA that won't approve the vapor-type carburetors even though they more than meet clean air standards. The inventors try to fight but the government has unlimited resources, so they lose. The patent office has issued patents on 6,500 high-mileage carburetors. How many ever came on the market?" asks Dennis. Another variation of this idea uses a 6th stroke as a steam/diesel engine. No radiator or cooling system required. Imagine the potential.. https://www.autoweek.com/news/a2063201/inside-bruce-crowers-six-stroke-engine/ “It’ll run for an hour and you can literally put your hand on it. It’s warm, yeah, but it’s not scorching hot. Any conventional engine running without a water jacket or fins, you couldn’t do that.” Indeed, the test unit has no external cooling system—no water jacket, no water pump, no radiator; nothing. It does retain fins because it came with them, but Crower indicates the engine would be more efficient if he took the trouble to grind them off. He has discarded the original cooling fan. Preliminary estimates suggest a Crower cycle engine will use roughly as many gallons of water as fuel. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1705249376.jpg |

Photographer's Caption A lonely job. Waiting all alone in the dark for a trip[?] to come through. It was so damp that Willie said he had to go to the doctor for his cough. A short distance from here, the gas was pouring into the mine so rapidly that it made a great torch when the foreman lit it. Lives at 164 Center St., Pittston, Pa. This is Willie Bryden[?], a nipper. Been working there 4 mos. 500 ft. from the shaft, and a quarter of a mile underground from there. Shaft #6 Pa. Coal Co. Walls have been whitewashed to make it lighter. Jan. 16: I found Willie at home sick, His mother admitted he is only 13 yrs old; will be 14 next July. She said 4 months after the mine boss told the father to take Willie to work, and they obtained a certificate from Squire Barrett. The only thing the squire could do was to make Willie out to be 16 yrs. Willie's father & brother are miners and the home is that of a frugal German family. Location: Pittston, Pennsylvania.
