OK, how does that work?

I have fairly complex passwords for my multiple financial and bank accounts. Upper and lower case letters at random, and lots of comic book cussing with^&#!*%# mixed in.

If I miss type one bit of it, bam, start over. Three times and I am locked out and either have to wait for a set period of time, or call and talk to a human and have them set a new random password that I have to log in with and then reset my password.

Not one of them would allow the bad guys to hammer away with a brute force attack at the site. And on the most sensitive and attacked sites, I have two factor authentication and use an app or they text my phone number.

1919- Seattle, Washington. Stacks of lumber drying at the Seattle Cedar Lumber Manufacturing Company's mill in Ballard. Located just west of the Ballard Bridge, it was the largest in Ballard. At the mill, logs were cut into lumber which was then dried for at least nine months before being sold. The stacks of drying lumber were over 50 feet high. In this photo, a workman stands partway up one of the tall stacks of drying lumber.

Shipboard Radio Room in the late twenties to early thirties - note the vacuum tube transmitter in the right corner of the operator's desk. The photo is from an October 1932 issue of Radio News showing the radio room of the ship "Discovery II." Seahawk, is that how you remember the radio room? :p

Actually, you Rat Bastard (), I do: "Radio" was the only link we had in the 80's and it wasn't much, but it was freezing in there. The OS's all wore sweaters and you had to have a clearance to get in the room.

During all my Dets on Small Boys, we had to go to "Radio" and have the OS's beam our daily SITREPS back to San Diego, get any "P4's" for the Det and get the print out of the headlines.

Completely different world.

This is a GM 6046 two-stroke twin diesel engine as used in the M4A2 variant of Sherman.
This engine was made up of two General Motors 6-71 inline six diesel engines, for a total displacement of 13.9 liters (850 cu in). It produced 410 hp, while max torque was 1,350 Nm (1,000 ft-lb) at 1,400 rpm.
With this setup, M4A2 Shermans had the benefit of being able to run on a single engine in emergencies if one was damaged. It was also used in M10s based on the M4A2 chassis.
Production of Shermans with the 6046 began in 1942, and were mainly used by Britain and the USSR. Some were used by the US Marines.
It is often thought that Allied tanks did not use diesel, in reality, the US produced 11,000 diesel-powered M4A2s.

A cut-away diagram of the 16-inch turrets on board the North Carolina class
The turret occupied five levels of the ship. Three turrets were constructed on the North Carolina, two on the bow and one behind the superstructure, each with three big cannons. More than 150 men were required to keep each turret working properly and the guns firing. Built to go head to head with the guns of other battleships at seas, the 16s became the major weapon for island bombardment.
