Bill Simpson Lit Himself on Fire to Protect Racers Worldwide

The ad that brought Bill Simpson to fame was a perfect visual for the man.

Set ablaze for a publicity stunt in the early Seventies while wearing his company’s flameproof racing gear, the safety pioneer, who died last December at 79, burned shades of bright red. Then the fire was put out. The colors matched his temperament. In that ad, the human torch sat inside Turn 1 at Indianapolis as waves of heat furled skyward. By demonstrating his willingness to be set alight inside the very Nomex he sold, Simpson launched his company to prominence. Simpson Racing Products stole the march within America’s burgeoning driver-safety market.

Armagnac vs Cognac
https://www.vintagewineandport.co.uk/blog/Armagnac-vs-Cognac
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1610751965.jpg
Quote:

Cognac and Armagnac are both French brandies, with numerous similarities but some key differences too which non-alcohol experts are often unaware of – the most obvious of which is the location of their production; the terroirs of the two brandies are separated by around 300km.........................

Cognac and Armagnac use many of the same grapes, however whilst Cognac must be 90% Ugni blanc, Folle blanche or Colombard, Armagnac has to be Folle blanche, Colombard or Baco 22A. The overrepresentation of Ugni blanc in Cognac is mainly due to the Phylloxera outbreak of the late 19th Century wiping out vineyards across Europe. ..........

I very much doubt it was kept secret for decades, not with all the spying going.
And the fact that anybody on a gusty day, could see it in action near an airbase where these planes flow.
Anybody with a tele lens would have seen something at at least some of the airbases.
It's not a minor detail, and yes those people with telelens did exist, thinking otherwise seems very naieve.. they all spied on eachother those days. through any means.

Or that any Rooskie plane designer worth his salt can put 2 and 2 together just by seeing one parked on a runway, and having a good look at how them big wheels are fitted and figure out that they need this functionality if there's any hope of landing it with a cross wind.

So no .. not decades..Rooskies weren't that stupid.

Saw one of these on the road today. I thought it was a vintage WW2 bike, but I Googled it and it is only a few years old.
