The 30,000-ton Schloemann closed die press from WWII. This monster, along with two 15,000 ton presses, helped create components for German aircraft production. After the war this press was taken back to the USSR and rebuilt. It is still in use today at the Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works in Russia. Note the people at the bottom for scale.

North American XF-82 Twin Mustang prepares for flight at the NACA Lewis Flight Propulsion Laboratory. The aircraft was one of only two prototypes built by North American in October 1945 and powered by Packard Merlin V-1650 piston engines.
The Twin Mustang’s unique two-pilot configuration allowed one pilot to rest during the long missions and thus be ready for action upon arrival.

Chevrolet has built an incredible 113 million small-blocks since its introduction 70 years ago. And it's sill going strong

I read a long time ago that the small block
350 crate engine cost chevrolet under $100 to build.
Considering how many they made and sold, I believe it.

BTW the engine in the pic above is an LS based motor
which is also a small block chevy,
but that is all it has in common with the famous small
block chevy that has been around for so long.
Completely different design, no interchangeable parts.

My original El Camino engine was worn out after 300,000 miles. I had a brand new 350, not rebuilt or remanufactured, but new engine delivered to my door for $1,700. I just swapped over the accessories from the old engine and the intake and fired it up. It is no wonder so many 32 Ford coupes have a Chevy small block.

Beat me to it. Yes, the ubiquitous Small Block Chev is, well... ubiquitous. World's favorite (and for good reason) hot rod motor. The LS is about to claim that honor and, again, rightfully so. There is some lineage, but to claim the "Small Block" is that old is kinda like claiming the same for the Harley V-Twin. There have been some changes over the years:
