Mine are Ryobi and have worked great - but since you already have Milwaukee, you should probably stick with them.

I am more then likely end up getting the Ryobi. The Milwaukee stays at the shop or stays in the back of my guy's truck.

You don't have any issues popping big nuts out with the Roybi Impact wrench?

RWebb 07-08-2020 11:44 AM

You use the tool

and the battery system uses you

Remember when we used air tools?

Skytrooper 07-08-2020 11:58 AM

Buy Milwaukee and you will never need to buy another. Ridgid and Ryobi are owned by Milwaukee's parent company. Buy a DeWalt and you are literally giving money to Milwaukee.

C'mon guys...you own Porsches ! Why would you buy cheap tools !

We have a ton of Milwaukee tools at the shop or out in the field. I know, we are slaves to the battery systems. I did a bit of digging sometime ago and found that Milwaukee's parent company was founded by an Indian and Chinese man, both are product of British Hong Kong and are still based in HK and its on their stock HS stock exchange. Interesting that they are the parent company of a bunch of companies around the world. Smart bastards

Skytrooper 07-08-2020 12:40 PM

Yes, that company is TTi, but the tools are not made in China. Milwaukee's complex is huge and is in.....Milwaukee. They also own Hoover and Oreck vacuum cleaners and a ton of others.

Anytime time you buy a DeWalt cordless Milwaukee gets paid. That is because DeWalt uses Milwaukee's battery technology.

I have an inside track with TTi, otherwise I would not have known this either.

I bought the Milwaukee version and loved it. Then one day I noticed something internal was broken as it would not tighten up more than a few inch pounds. I took it to a local factory service facility and it was under warranty. It took them several weeks to get the parts. The repair guy said had several just like mine in for service. I guess I was the lucky one to get one with a defective part.

It was fixed for free, and all I lost was the several weeks of non use and two trips of 14 miles to drop it off and pick it up. I used it a lot just yesterday.

Never a problem. Biggest nuts I've used it on was lug nuts on my Silverado and trailer wheels for my boat and landscape trailer.

I bought it when I was rebuilding my boat trailer and boy did it save me a LOT of extra work! So nice to just squeeze the trigger and have those fasteners spin for me.

When I bought mine, I immediately bought a set of both metric and SAE impact sockets and those are what I use with it.

Will get a pic up later.....

Buy a DeWalt and you are working on houses.

Buy a Milwaukee and you are working on cars.

I've been looking for the Dewalt ratchet. Any links to one, as all my tools and batteries are Dewalt.

Doesn't look like Dewalt makes one! Guess I'm not buying one. I'm in the same boat, all Dewalt tools. Not about to change now.

Baz 07-08-2020 03:47 PM

Here they are. 1/2" impact wrench along with sockets sets and 1/4" impact driver.

I didn't take a pic of them but I did get two Ryobi sets for the impact driver - one with drill bits and the other various bits like screwdrivers, torx, and sockets.

I have 4 batteries all together. 2 of the smaller ones and 2 of the larger ones.

How many sets of each have you owned? I've had sets from Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita.

What? Milwaukee is owned in by Techtronic Industries in Hong Kong. Dewalt is a subsidiary of Stanley Black & Decker.

Skytrooper 07-08-2020 06:18 PM

Nick, DeWalt pays Milwaukee for its battery technology.

It doesn't make sense because they are competitors so I would expect its performance to be very close.

Oh yeah, those little impact drivers are great but noisy as heck. We have a bunch of them. I am tired of noise. When they are going full bore in an enclosed home, I bail and go out and get a tan. Installation of cabinets, at times, We have to stick our head inside to crank a screw into the wall. Driving those 3-3.5" screw with that impact gun is a killer to our hearing. All my guys likes to use them because it requires little force. I like the quietness of the typical drill. I tell ya, when I around, they quietly walk out to get their drills. When I get out the door, its tak, tak, tak once again.

BTW, who's impact sockets do you like? I am thinking something cheap from Lowe's or Autozone or something?

Agree they are a little noisey....lol.....

I got these sockets from Amazon:

Metric

SAE*

*The SAE's are showing "out of stock".

But you could get sets at plenty of places I'm sure if you look around and do some digging.

Thanks will do. I am going to buy the first set I come across. No use spending a bunch of time to save 3 bucks. I just want something good for not Snap-on money.

Looks like HD carries the SAE set:

LINK

Made by Stanley, 11 piece, and only $25. I paid about $20 each for my 11 piece socket sets.

I always try to save money when I buy tools as long as it doesn't create problems waiting for the ship time.

That's where my Amazon Prime membership really helps. Of course, you can't always get everything from them and sometimes stuff takes too long to get. Hence my order today for the power ratchet which is being shipped via Home Depot.

You just have to do some digging.

It's become second nature for me with all the stuff I've bought over the years....;)
