Senior Moment

Been having one for a few days now.

There was a Japanese SUV, came decked out from the factory lifted with a hood snorkel, rack, roof ladder, and always seemed to see them in Yellow.

I want to say early 2000?

I remembered it being a Nissan, either Pathfinder or Xterra and for the life of me can't find it now.

Anyone remember what it was?

Possibly a Isuzu Trooper?

Alan A 08-12-2020 04:54 PM

Xterra

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Xterra

There was also the Toyota FJ

Xterra. Cheap now.

Wasn't a Trooper or FJ

I recall it being tall, thin, boxy / harder edges.

Driving me nuts because I saw one for sale a couple of months ago so I know the damn thing is not a figment of my imagination.

The distinct features were the snorkel and roof ladder as factory options.

Sarah Harper. Nipples could cut glass.
I know this isn’t a thread about high school girlfriends but that is what came to mind. I have no idea what car you are talking about, but you gave a great description of Sarah.

G wagon then. Even though it’s not Japanese

Can't think of anything that came standard with a snorkel, but sounds like it's either a Nissan Xterra or perhaps, if not for the 'Japanese' requirement, an early Land Rover Discovery.

Xterra- I remember the tailgate as being asymmetrical where one side had a bulge to accommodate the large first-aid kit.

That's an Xterra.

Pretty much it though I remember the the front being a bit flatter but ok.

And I recall they also had a ladder.

I know some came stock like that.

WTF was the specific trim model?

Steve Viegas 08-12-2020 08:29 PM

Mitsubishi Montero?

unclebilly 08-12-2020 08:33 PM

Yellow, Flat Front, Ladder you say?

You are welcome.

Isuzu Vehicross comes pretty close, but not boxy.

That thing is pretty cool.

How did I miss those.

Don't think I've ever seen one in real life.

Kinda embarrassing.

I started googling Vehicrosses for sale.

I think it would be a cool first car for my 17 yr old. It's quirky like him.

Found a nice clean black one so call him into my office to show him.

He looks and instantly says "ohh, a Vehicross"

??? uhm, you knew about these?

"Yeah, didn't you?"

unclebilly 08-14-2020 08:33 AM

So... um... not the fire truck then?

It would be a pretty safe ride for a 17 year old...
