So, I hear begas hit 130 today. Holy poo poo that's hot
On the radio driving home today, Vegas is now ranked #3 hottest recorded place on earth. It was 104 here today. I expect that here a few days through out the year.

Yeah, but it's a dry heat

I went to Phoenix once for a couple of days, I think it was July or August. I was visiting from Houston. Lots of folks will understand that heat and humidity sucks balls. Well I'm here to tell you, 120* of dry heat also sucks balls. An oven is a dry heat to, but you don't find me crawling into one to escape the damp heat in Houston in the summer. I don't even want to experience 130*. I think I saw something about Death Valley setting a heat record too, but I'm not sure what that was. |
As bad as that is....

We helped build a warehouse that is maintained @130°F. I have worked in there a couple times - always in pairs, never more than 20 minutes at a time.
We have another customer that uses molten salt baths. I have seen 130 in there. No question you are risking your life at that temperature for to long. |
This was a few years back during summer in Death Valley. I took the long way to Vegas (not Begas from my fat fingers) along some dirt road. At 115, it was Africa hot. My Duramax hummed along jsut fine with fan set at 2 from the lowest setting with AC on. Had lots of water with me.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597804916.jpg

Nice looking S2000!
|
Thanks. Its for sale. I no longer drive it but have been too lazy to deal with the sale. Last I put it on Craigslist, some people didn't show after waiting for them for more then a few hours. A couple of the offer me with a wad of cash thinking I would cave in and sell for 5500 bucks while I listed it for 14,500. Crazy kids. Good thing is, pricing is going up on those. Knwo anyone that wants a very clean original S2000, let me know. Make them a great deal. I like it gone , need room for my 72 hot rod.

I wouldn't sell it too cheap, if you can help it.
That car is quite rare and it's value will continue to appreciate. I bet every single person here has sold a vehicle and regretted doing it. None of my business but thought I'd share my thoughts, anyway. |

That Honda S2000 needs to go onto the BAT (Bring A Trailer) site where high interest sports car sell every day. You might be surprised at the price you can get from enthusiasts with means nationwide.

This has been a brutal summer in the SW. Phoenix has now broken just about every heat related record, and it doesn’t seem to be really letting up. We’ve also been in a major drought, and before the little bit of rain this week, it had been well in excess of 100 days since we had rain. It’s lead to lots of wildfires in the mountains around town.

My neighbor who is an adventurist went out to Death Valley 2-3 years ago when it was supposed to be near record temps just to experience it. He said it was hot as expected (about 130º) but that it was something that you just don't experience in life much, if once. I thought he was foolish since any failure could have been disastrous. I'm not sure what his back up plan was, but he's a doctor and a smart guy (I think) so he must have had somewhat of an idea what he was getting into.
It was all voluntary unlike the conditions in Vegas. However, there is no evidence that LV hit 130º as the title suggests. 114 yesterday and predicted again today. |
I just don’t understand how anyone can choose to live in Phoenix or Las Vegas year-round. If you gave me a free house and a Porsche, I would not do it. Winter in AZ or NM? That I can see, it’s even attractive but not in Phoenix or LV, for chrissakes.
If I could not afford to live in CA near the ocean, I’d pick somewhere w four seasons that has water, lots of water around. That is going to be the valuable commodity, going forward. As climate change continues to ramp up, you will not be able to give away a tract house in LV or Phoenix. I hope everyone stays safe through this heat. |
