Dogs are proof that God loves us and protects us.
Very sorry to hear of your loss. |
Sorry Pal. Best wishes through this difficult time.
|
From whatever great place they came, and chose us, we have to give them back.
It is very hard. I am sooooo sorry for your loss. |
All your pups lived good long lives and had a pair of great humans to look after their needs.
Very sorry for your loss. |
So sad.....Dexter had a great life. He gave you love....fair trade.

So very sorry for your losses. The older we get, I think we truly appreciate these companions even more. As you said, it never gets easier; but in time, hopefully you'll feel up to the possibility of rescuing another little critter that needs you.

So sorry brother. I still get a lump when this happens and I think of holding my ol' girl for the last time. It may be of no comfort but it is the loving heart that makes this hard choice.

This morning my wife gathered up all the extra dog stuff we had , going from 3 to none we had a lot of stuff . We decided to keep one of everything for what we know will be another addition to the family .
The balance we just donated/dropped off at the vet office that we used for all three dogs . They were very grateful which made us feel good . It is VERY strange coming home to a quiet house and not see any wagging tails ☹️ |
^ I'm really sorry for you and your wife. It is so hard. The drive to the vet is the hardest. It is out of love we have to make the hardest decision for them. Another lucky little fella / lass will be along soon enough.

No apologizes needed. I lost one of mine a few weeks ago and it's good too vent.
My sincerest condolences for your loss. |
Thanks guys. We really dodged a bullet, well needle on this one. Good news...not great... but manageable. Ruby wasn't well at all. Vet was stumped. Large amount of fluid in abdominal cavity. The vet said we'd need to get a specialist in, but it's going to be expensive. I let her know that Ruby is a family member, and hang the cost. A mobile specialist comes with a sonogram and electrocardiogram machine. They sedate her and spend several hours doing an ultrasound and full echo. Poor old darling, she's 10 on Sunday, has a dodgy heart mitral valve. The rest of her organs are in great shape.
Three days on with heart meds and diuretics and she's back to her normal self. She's eating again, she wants to play, but we have to try and calm her down for a couple of weeks. I really thought she was a gonner. So did the vet. Even after we'd spent the money for the ultrasound etc, if we had to make the decision to terminate, my wife and I know we would've done everything we could have for her. I can always earn back the $4K, but Rubes is only here once....and she relies on me to make her life the best I can. It's an honor and a privilege, to have such beautiful creatures as important parts of our families. Again, appreciate your thoughts guys and for letting me vent in this thread. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1600431896.jpg |
Dewolf that is great that Ruby is getting better and a good looking pup she is ! Today is day five for Sue and I without Dexter ☹️ but the pain is slowly going away . But the house is very quiet and is hard to get used to . We decided that we will take a break for a while ............ not sure how long that while will be 😁 .
Sue has a birthday in October and then there is Christmas both are prime time for rescuing a doggy . We will take it one day at a time . |
