What was your first vehicle?

1960 VW bug with the mighty 36 hp engine. 0 to 60 was maybe, if no headwind. With a tailwind it was 72 seconds. With a headwind it was not going to happen.

Mine was a 1959 or 60 version without a gas gauge.

While tectonic plates could beat it in zero to something, it was mine and got me off the ranch. I loved it so. I bought from a friend of my father's who was transitioning to a job in DC: $139 scooters, the price of a one-way ticket from LAX to DCA in those days.

An automatic with the little lever on the dashboard.

If it's still out there, it probably looks like this by now.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1604251476.JPG

The first car I owned was a 1953 HenryJ. I wasn't old enough to drive it off the farm.

Dad sold my HenryJ when we left the farm. When I was 16 I bought a 1960 VW Beetle for $600.

Like this one..but with air in the tires and much more rust.
(I considered this color to be "red". Friends always called it "orange". It was a issue of contention.)

1959 Austin Healey 100-6, got it in 75' and just sold it last fall! Didn't drive it for over 20 years and didn't see me driving it again, so I sold it. Don't miss it at all.

1977 Ford Mustang II. Anemic 4-banger. I worked at $3.35/hour from 14-15 years old; paid $1,500 cash in 1983. Put in a reman engine, drove the hell out of it. Photo is not my car; took it from interwebs.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1604254441.jpg
