It is cool to drive over it in the summer. We just had to drive up into the upper.

Mackinac island is a great place to visit as well. The Grand Hotel has the best buffet on the planet. Any buffet that is 60 feet long and stocked with raw oysters, and slabs of salmon, prime rib and every other tasty food is beyond words.

Like anyone alive when the song came out I am familiar with the song and the story. It was great to see the area in person to understand a tiny fraction of the story of a might ship that just vanished.

The car then skidded along an outer railing for about 40 feet before striking a vertical suspension cable and flipping over the side.

Crikey!

^^^ hard to imagine what it would be like those seconds from going over the railing until hitting the water....terrible.

There are two lanes in each direction with no barrier between them.
The fast/left lanes in each direction are open grated....real fun with a motorcycle.
I crossed it a few times with my CB750....if using the fast lane...be prepared!

We had an open grate bridge here to cross the Mississippi and it was always interesting on bikes with knobby tires.

^^^ And then, on the Mac, to look down thru the grate and the water is 170 ft lower.
White knuckle time.
