Someone has either stopped or started taking some meds. Until you've seen (?been?) someone in a psychotic break, it's likely tough to understand.

Also, he's pretty lucky he wasn't turned into turbofan hash.

My question is...How did he get from the ground to up on the wing on a 737?

He was likely high enough to reach the tip of the vertical stabilizer without a ladder. But a feat, not really any handles to hang onto.

The 737's engines are very low to the ground. So much so that the housings are flat on the bottom so there is enough ground clearance.

For a taller than average person, they could climb onto the engine, then pull themselves up on top of the engine and onto the wing. Add to the fact no idea what kind of substances he was on so just about anything is likely possible.

The pilots were not quite sure what was going to happen so they shut down the engines when they saw the guy coming towards them.

How did he get from the tail (vert stabilizer) to the wing????

Edit: You must mean 'winglet' not 'vertical stabilizer'

I was going to say, "way too skinny to be Tabs."

It's easy to laugh at this and my middle name is *bad taste* but the poor guy is really not well. Be grateful for your health, mental and physical.

Oddly they didn’t show the poor guys landing... I hope his lawyers make a mint off of the LVPD and the idiot that tazed him never works again. Clearly the guy was not in a position to harm anybody and they could have got a fire net to catch the guy in the time it took to get 10 cops there...

Obvious mental illness at play.

How do you know someone like that doesn’t have an explosive device or vest on and is intent on blowing up an airplane?

No issue with the decision to use a taser. Getting him off the plane ASAP was a good decision - would’ve been better if they’d had a fire net but they had to make a decision based on what they had and did. They had no idea what they were or weren’t dealing with. They used appropriate force IMHO. They didn’t shoot the guy.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Sorry if that’s harsh or insensitive due to real mental illness involved and it’s unfortunate that anyone got hurt but you can’t take a chance.

Can you imagine the Monday morning quarterbacking that’d be going on if LE said “well let’s just wait it out - he’s not harming anyone” and then the guy pushed the button and kablammoed a 737 full of pax?

Don’t think many would take that chance.

This, he was likely high on some substance. It is unlikely anyone drugged him against his will, he injested some substance of his own free will. That aircraft is $1,000s per minute and full of people trying to go somewhere.

Likely he was high, not mentally ill. Are they supposed to sit on the wing and have a long chat with him? I doubt they have any jump nets big enough to cover the ground for the entire wing area. A cop could easily fall off that wing trying to grab him.

That wing is full of fuel, and one modest bomb could take out all the passengers and crew.

Notice the flight was bound for Portland, OR? PDX has plenty of folks inhabiting the state just like that. Hope that guy stays in Vegas!

The older I get; the more I see addiction, the sorrier I feel.

I cannot imagine what kind and how much powerful drugs that poor guy was on.

As someone who believes one day we'll be judged for how we treated the weakest among us, and I cannot believe what we are doing is working. I am tangentially involved (not my day job) in the world of addicts and let me tell you, it's getting far worse every day, and nothing government is doing is working.

Done with my rant - sorry.

I don't either. I think he slid off when he couldn't get anything to hang on to.
The nearest cop on the wing, raises his left hand...but I see no tazer.
