My wife has a X3 M40i (her choice). My Porsches are all older air cooled, including an '85 Turbo. I have to say that the M40i is/can be quite an impressive drive. With 45K miles now on it, we have had "0" issues (other than tires). Performance modes are impressive to say the least. I will keep my fingers crossed!

Had an early X5. Sunroof cassette leaked to the point where the entire unit had to be replaced. AOS replaced
Radiator went tango uniform
Front brakes TU
Door vapor barrier
Driver door latch cable stretched so much that you had to get in thru passenger side, replaced

That was our last BMW of new vintage.

That sunroof cassette is something like 2500 for parts, then a whole day to in and out it .
Then, the v8 x 5's like to leak oil from the alternator mount . 15$ seal, 800 to in and out it, takes a whole day . window regulators, door locks, water pumps, axle shafts, rear lower control arm ball joints, front suspension overhaul at 100k. Door handles break, valve cover gasket leaks, coil pack, steering angle sensor failures, yaw angle sensor angle failures, fuel pumps, I drive problems . Ihave done it all.
Some of them , are just wretched pos's

V8, leaky coolant tube thru block and bad valve guides, LOL.

M62TU was the last of the good OK BMW V8.

EDIT: the replacement N63 (curent) is a oil burning battery killing POS as well. Yuck.
