What car is this?
 

I was driving through a neighborhood I don't normally frequent, and saw this sitting in the driveway. It caught my eye, as it has hints of Wayne's Probe (yeah, I know it's not a Probe). But what is it?

Kit car, looks kinda like a sterling

I think there is one of those rotting away in a driveway about half a mile from me.

Looks like some fun but on a VW swing axle pan? No thanks.

Probe 15. Little sister to Wayne's car.

Called a Sterling. The whole canopy opens to allow access.

Along with the Lazer 917, I saw these all over LA when I was a kid.

The Sterling kit car. Stick it on a short VW pan like a Meyers Manx. Used to deliver papers to a guy who had one. Still pretty cool

priceless rig, just saying.

Looks like fun!

Crazy kit cars! zany times in Southern California so many guys making their own designs.
Just watched a bit on the "Brubaker Box" nuts..
As kids we used to see "Bricklin's" around...and we were Flummoxed!

Bricklins weren't kit cars. Brubaker boxes were, sort of.

Fun fact, the inventor of the Bricklin was the same guy who later imported Yugo's.

Racerbvd's pictures jogged my memory about the Sterling's major flaw. The interior was an oven; All that glass and nowhere for heat to escape.
