How about a little bigger?

Nope. I'll jump out of a perfectly good airplane. I'll stand on a tall bridge or building or climb a tall tree. I gone off of a 3m board and whichever end hits first feels like it's hitting a board. I don't see myself jumping into water from anything taller than 3m. I guess maybe if someone coached me, I might be willing to start at 3m and work my way up if they could show me how to land so it didn't hurt like hell, but the couple/few times that I've tried anything taller than a regular diving board, the landing has hurt something or several things.

I figured that anyone watching would click on the enlarge button on the video...if wanted.

stevej37 01-27-2021 02:40 PM

I would think that hitting the water at a slightly off angle (at that height)...would be very bad.

I wouldn't even climb up there let alone jump.

gordner 01-27-2021 03:00 PM

Sure I could, with a little push lol.

My stomach turns just watching that. Worked at height for years, never lost my healthy respect for it.

cabmandone 01-27-2021 03:04 PM

Do they still want the water clear when I'm done or is a brown tint okay?

stevej37 01-27-2021 03:07 PM

^^^ I would never get out there where someone could give 'a little push' :D

aschen 01-27-2021 03:22 PM

I think I might be able to muster up the courage to jump feet first, and I am a bit afraid of heights. not sure.

When I was a teenager, A local swimming lake had a 10M platform in the middle of it which wasnt a huge deal to jump off off. Pretty painful if you land wrong

stevej37 01-27-2021 03:27 PM

If I did...I know where my hands would be....
(not on my head)

flatbutt 01-27-2021 03:27 PM

I've done 10 meters but never 20. Oh and I sucked.

stevej37 01-27-2021 03:30 PM

^^^ Did you ever hit the water at the wrong angle?

or hence the user name? :D

pwd72s 01-27-2021 03:30 PM

no..............

Dantilla 01-27-2021 04:46 PM

20 meters, about 60 feet.
I've done 40, maybe 45 feet into a lake.
For some reason I'd rather go back to the lake than dive into a pool from that height.

Racerbvd 01-27-2021 05:00 PM

Oh hell no...

stevej37 01-27-2021 05:02 PM

^^^ esp not with broken ribs!

Superman 01-27-2021 05:18 PM

Again I agree with Dan. Love lake swimming! And like he, I have done 40-45 but not 60. One and a halfs, in fact, but I would likely jump 60 rather than dive it. Gravity acceleration is about 32 ft/sec/sec. From 60 ft you'd be going nearly 60 mph. One more second and things get much more interesting.

stevej37 01-27-2021 05:27 PM

The only way I would do it...would be tucked into the fetal position and hope to hell that I didn't hit the bottom of the pool.

oh also...holding onto the man sack.

Bill Douglas 01-27-2021 05:34 PM

My natural survival instincts tell me no.

Sneezed a little bit ago, all I can say is OUCH, new level of pain.

I know none other than holding your breath...and that rarely works for me.

A930Rocket 01-27-2021 07:44 PM

What? No bikini bottoms???

And, no, I wouldn’t jump off it.

One of my 3m dives had me hit at a slightly weird angle or something and it was unpleasant. I think my hands were angled or I hit at a slight angle instead of straight and the force caused my body to bend backwards which was unpleasant enough for me to not do that a second time. It may have been the same dive when the top of my head hit the water, that was uncomfortable too.

And jumping in feet first, I remember my feet and junk feeling quite a smack when I hit the water.

Nope, nope, nope.

Tobra 01-27-2021 10:16 PM

I have jumped off cliffs or bridges into rivers or lakes from that high. Pretty sure the bridge ones were illegal.

I can't recall how far it was from the flight deck to the water, 85' maybe. They told us feet first, arms crossed across chest, plug your nose, clench your butt cheeks and open your mouth. Not sure I want to know what happens if you miss a step on that checklist.

KFC911 01-28-2021 02:35 AM

The thread title is a trick question.... right?

Snowballs in Hades first :D

That all makes sense, but I don't understand the point of that last one. Curious.

stevej37 01-28-2021 08:00 AM

^^^ Prob in case you mess up and do a belly-flop.
Gotta have someplace for the contents to go..fast. :D

gregpark 01-28-2021 10:28 AM

Clench your butt? pretty sure that would automatic

You'd be surprised what goes out the window in certain situations.

svandamme 01-28-2021 03:47 PM

I'de rather jump out of an airplane with a parachute then 20 meters with nothing but a swimsuit

stealthn 01-28-2021 11:35 PM

Ah, have you ever watched the Red Bull cliff diving? No, I couldn’t

Bill Douglas 01-28-2021 11:51 PM

You guys have just reminded me. When I was about 8 us kids would walk along a railway bridge then when the train got close we would jump into the river below. It was pretty exciting stuff. The train roaring towards you with the horn blaring. LOL The difference in time between deciding to jump and the speed of the train; it was just about on top of us as we leapt off the bridge.

svandamme 01-28-2021 11:55 PM

but can Molly Carlson do this :

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/t0ffDvnLsAc" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
?

stevej37 01-29-2021 03:28 AM

A few years back, when in Acapulco, I saw these guys. Amazing to see how they time their jump with the waves.
