This is one of the first quilts my wife made. Each block is a needle point stitching.

This quilt is absolutely beautiful. The colors are beautiful. The blanket is well put together. It is a true patchwork quilt. It's not simply printed material. The pattern is beautiful. I'd say it's a midweight quilt. I've added some pictures fresh out of the bag. Any wrinkles are not part of defects in the blanket. They are just from being folded in the package. The reverse side pattern is also beautiful. I'm very pleased with this quilt. It was a great buy.

If you want real cotton, quality workmanship, and vibrant color in a classic design, this is your quilt! I wanted a bed cover that can withstand my cat playing and cavorting on it, it doesn't snag or rumple. It is a nice thick fabric with beautiful color combinations which adds a punch of interest to my otherwise neutral bedroom. I washed it and air dried it with great results. The queen size didn't hang as long on the sides as I wanted, so I rotated it so the top and bottom are actually laying side to side. It looks fine because the squared patchwork works either way and it's still long enough from head to foot. I wouldn't call this exactly lightweight. It's more of a medium weight. Very happy with the quality of this colorful quilt set.

Yes, except this one uses servo motors. They claim to be the only manufacturer that does. Faster and more accurate.
We’re waiting on a software upgrade. I’ll post a video of it working as soon as we get it up and running.

Wow, that is really something. On a slightly related note, does she know anyone who makes drapes? I need some custom made for my RV. They have pretty specific characteristics, snaps/elastic/velcro/etc.

There are two parts to making a quilt. You piece together the top, with the pattern and all the different materials- this is the fun, relaxing, creative part. Then you sew together a sandwich of the top, a filler blanket, and the bottom. This is thousands of stitches and can be boring and takes a lot of time. There is a decent market for the service of taking your personally designed and sewn quilt top and doing the boring part on one of these machines. That’s how MrsWD plans to make the machine pay for itself. A simple stitching pattern on a king size quilt is $500.

Baz - It's hard to say why people would pay that kind of money. The quilt you linked to is probably made in China and cranked out by the hundreds if not more.
A quilt done by a true quilter is something made to last a life time. I know that with the time my wife puts in on even a small one, that $80 would barely cover the cost of material.

I quit worrying about how much my wife spends on material, machines or anything else sewing related as it would be...well, mind bending. For most of our marriage I've had more $'s tied up in her sewing machines than in my former P-cars.

My mom made me a beautiful quilt from a handful of running club t-shirts.

There are a several quilting clubs around here. A couple years ago they held an exhibit and I'm telling you they were beautiful. They were geometric, landscapes anything you can think of in two dimensions was there.

Check out Ann Loveless' work, a local quilter who won Artprize in Grand Rapids (2013). Her entry, 'Sleeping Bear Dune lakeshore' was 5' X 20'. She won again 2015. Artprize is not a small competition. It fills Grand Rapids for a week with $1/2 Mil in grants and prizes for 2021.

Wow, that's some beautiful work there. Tell you the truth, I never paid any attention to quilts until now. It was just a blanket need to keep the beds covered or keep my fat ass warm. I had no idea the amount of time that's been put into them. Learn something new daily here.
