Ohio expanding vaccine eligibility to 16 and older by end of this month

My wife told me about this the other day. I thought it was interesting that we're expanding eligibility this quickly. My wife was saying that locally we've had so many no shows for appointments that they've gone to first come first served as well. I think this is a good move and that we've been a bit too rigid in who gets the shot. The goal after we got nursing homes and first responders taken care of should have been to get as many shots in as many arms as we could.

I'm stoked. This means we can have the whole family vaccinated by the end of April.

I just ran into this at the CVS this morning. They had more vaccine than appointments and were taking first come, first serve until they ran out of vaccine.

i herd we were doing 2.8 million shots per day.

gotta admit, the vaccine program is going pretty damn well. well ahead of biden's promises.

Edit: as of yesterday its 2.4 million per day.

I skipped the first scheduling because the closest place was over an hour away.
Today, I got a phone call from our local hospital.
They said if I want...come in Fri. for the first Pfizer shot....which I will do.

Michigan also just changed their 6ft distancing to 3ft

They should be doing that in the first place. Or maybe scheduling the vulnerable people for half the available doses that can be administered in a day and taking walk ins to fill in the day. Show up late? Now you're in the first come first served line. Don't show up at all? We'll get to you when we can... have a nice day.

That may have been the plan in the first place. The 4 times MrsWD and I were there for shots it was packed. From the looks of the parking lot over the past few weeks they didn't have more vaccine than appointments until recently. So that could have been the plan and it didn't need to be implemented until the past few days.

Got mine on Monday. Drs office called me to let me know I was on waiting list for shot. 10 minutes later they called saying that they had a cancellation, lucky me. Now my wife and oldest son are waiting for their call.
