I honestly don't think I could bring myself to own any C3 other than '68-72 or maybe '73 (still has chrome rear bumpers) or '82 (would need to be modified). The '74-81 models are like the middle year 911s, but much, much worse. The pinnacle of horribleness may be the '80 Cali edition with the 180hp 305ci.

My dad had an '82 vette. It wasn't a 911, but wasn't horrible. That's probably the only reason that I'd consider that one particular year, mostly nostalgia. Otherwise, the only good years of C3 are '68-72/73 when they still had f/g front and rear and bumpers. At least then they looked good and could be had with decent motors that still had character. |
