Tinnitus
I saw the post in the death fairy thread about Kent Taylor -
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/832922-ultimate-death-fairy-thread-semi-famous-who-cares-people-who-just-died-108.html#post11268808 I've had tinnitus for at least 20 years, maybe longer. Too many loud concerts, running race cars with open exhaust, and shooting have done my ears in good. I had it checked a few years ago, at least a 20db hearing drop at 1200hz, right about where normal speech is. Now I'm fairly certain I haven't had Covid, but I have been vaccinated. I'd swear the ringing in my ears is louder, but maybe it's all in my head. Get it? Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Anything I can do short of the guy above's solution? There's the infomercial on lipoflavinoid, does that do anything but waste your money? |
Prolly stress or alcohol use.
There's no cure for it. Products that claim that they do is snake oil |
I have quite bad tinnitus. Sounds like locusts humming away.
My way of managing it is to tell myself how lucky I am to have the sounds of summer in my head all year 'round. |
Tinnitus before and after vaccine.
|
Yeah, no change in my tinnitus pre- and post-vaccination, either.

One thing I thought it might be is that now I have headphones on during the workday, and maybe I have them turned up a little louder than they should be to understand people. Foreign accents are especially difficult for me, I have to have people repeat themselves often. |
I've had it for decades. Some times it's more bothersome than others and varies through the day. There are periods of time I don't notice it and all of a sudden it's there and fades later on. I have been taking Lipoflavinoid for maybe a almost two years. I have the impression it helps but that may be wishful thinking. I don't want to discontinue it, because I'm afraid the tinnitus will get worse. Lipo is fairly expensive - $25 for 100 tablets at Costco & you take two, twice a day for the first month and three per day after that.

Jet engine idling in my head, did seen louder during and right after covid infection. I also have thumping in right ear sounds like a tennis shoe in a dryer.
|
Could you guys please type a little louder?

I got the vaccine, and now that you mention it, my tinnitus has been better for the last few weeks.
But my eyesight is getting worse, my memory is getting worse, and it's taking me longer to pee. I think I also shrunk an inch or two. My body is catching up to my piss poor old man attitude. My tinnitus- stress, hypertension, mowing at full blast for hours on end, and occupational dental drills 40hrs week. My grandfather was in the FBI in the 1930's and shot thompson machine guns with no hearing protection at all. He had bad tinnitus, was deaf as a doornail, and heckled squirrels. |

(I have tinnitus, too. Sucks, but not enough to make me buy a one-way subway ticket.) |
Too much 60's and 70's rock at concerts and headphones cranked to the max.
Sometimes the tinnitus is worse than others. I can get temporary relief (not a cure) from places like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePn_3WBUu7w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPf6guJ0g-w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=firtRdXwAfc There are a ton of them out there and I found that some seem to work better for me than others. Try different ones and see if any help. |
I’ve had mild tinnitus for many years ( probably from car wash business, loud machines, blowers etc. Since I’ve had covid it’s become much louder and constant.
The day before my first covid symptom I had severe tinnitus. Very odd. Could be worse. Tim |
Pre/post covid, tinnitus the same. Pre/post covid vaccine (pfizer) tinnitus the same. With that said, if I don't think about it...not so bad...reading about it (ahem)...much worse....sigh...

Clearly, someone is trip’n on an agenda. Wtf? |
I have it rarely, but fairly strong when it happens, and that's been since I was a kid.
Read something that really helped me, dunno if it's helpful in all cases. It said that tinnitus is often caused by your brain realizing it can't hear well in that range and then trying to jack the amplitude way up to compensate. Given this, I plug the ear involved, or sometimes both, and concentrate really hard on hearing that specific tone, not just letting it annoy me, but really focusing on it. Usually solves it in 30-90 seconds, sometime 2-3 attempts, but has worked with in that time frame 90% for me. May have some or no effect depending on cause, but can't really hurt to try, no drugs, no doing something terribly goofy. |
I've had Tinnitus for about 15 yeas.
It started after I took Sudafed for a cold but I'm not 100% sure the Sudafed caused it. I've been to several doctors about it, had some tests etc but basically there's nothing that can be done. There's a Tinnitus web site with embedded test tones. When I listened to those tones it somehow seemed to improve things for a while. I had that web site bookmarked but I can't find it right now. :( |

I have had the Pfizer 1st shot. My tinnitus remains the same. I am getting the second shot next week - I do not expect it to affect my tinnitus. I know of no known cures and I have a very good ENT who I visit because I have tinnitus/hearing/sinus/sleep apnea issues. It has never pushed me into harming myself. |
