Do you like those oil change reminder stickers ?

You know, the ones that wal mart, and jiffy lube put in your windshield telling you when your next oil change is due?
I just had a customer a little bit salty at me for not putting one on.
I explained to him, that I go out of my way to re set the cars oil life system with every oil change, so we are going by factory recommendations .
I am happy to add a sticker if I know they want one , and are maybe changing oil at different intervals . Ill remember for him next time . I have a huge roll of them, but myself, hate having on on my window . Even my old chebby pick up has an oil service reminder light . I set it at 4k
I guess, European cars have spoiled me in this manner, although nearly all domestic and imported cars have oil life monitoring systems in place now .

Used to hate them being there as well. Now, with 8 cars for 5 drivers I can't keep track of when the oil needs to be changed in all the cars and find them important. Seems the kids just don't pay enough attention to them so I need to keep on top of the oil changes and without the stickers it is impossible to keep track of them all.

I like 'em. I change my own oil, though, and I had a handful of those little decals from one of the auto parts stores; When I used them up I just started taking a sharpie and writing the mileage number on my windshield in an unobtrusive spot.

(I have an old car that doesn't flash the dash when it's time for an oil change, the reminder is up to me)

Not as much now since cars have the lights. I rather have it put on and if I don't like it I can remove it.

I use blue painters tape, and sharpie the milage for the next oil change. Even in the 6.7R ram. The computer puts the interval at 15,000 miles. I do 10,000 miles. Everthing else I own isn't that smart.

I like them. My daily drivers get oil changed every 5-7000 miles before the reminder light.

I keep track of all the maintenance on my El Camino in a little analog notebook that is getting kinda worn after 30 years and 373,000 miles. It is simple to look in it to see the last time I changed oil, and do some math to determine if it is due.

For my 911 I have a electronic note feature on my phone, so all digital.

The Macan lets us know when it is time, and it is a 2107 and up to 16,200 miles so not heavily driven.

Nope. Don't see any reason for them on vehicles with a service reminder.

Dodge won't let you back off the service interval? I know I can in my Ford Taurus X. Not sure about my F250 but I think I can go in and set the oil life to a percentage other than 100 if I want to shorten my interval.

I write down all oil changes because I do them myself . Most window sticker's I have used in the past the ink fades before the change is needed 😠 . A local Porsche shop is using stickers that are ink type done on a printer , that's the way all should be done .

Racecar and machinery I write mileage/hours right on the filters with paint pen. Newer cars have the lights.

So no, I rip the reminders off and toss 'em anyway.

Like Glenn, I use an old school At-A-Glance mileage log book for most of my cars. I write down every fill up and oil change, maintenance etc. For my truck I really like the vinyl stickers but take it off and stick it on the drivers side vanity mirror.

I had a friend of mine that bought an '64 Ford station wagon with a 427 in it from the original owner. The man gave him boxes of receipts and little pocket notebooks. The man had written down all the oil changes and mileage, PLUS he wrote down the miles, gallons and price of EVERY tank of gas he ever bought.

I change my oil twice a year regardless of how far I've travelled. Oil filter once a year.

(I travel way less than 20,000 km a year)

I do that Ury914, when I have sold my Porsches, the new owners always really appreciate it.

Now with that being said, my kids make fun of me for doing it.
