Hey, Masraum!

I'll be working in your vicinity this week. Do you still need some juice for your a/c?

Probably Tuesday or Wednesday, but can be flexed as far as Friday if you need it.

Matt, thanks tons, we are charged up right now. So I think we are good.

I'm going to get a cap for the valve above and see if I can get a reasonably priced leak detector to make sure that the valve below is the only leak in the system or if there's another leak somewhere.

If you were totally empty and the PO said they topped it off each year, your leaks should be visible. There will be refrigerant oil residue around the area that is leaking. Make sure you snug down all the caps on the outdoor unit (once you've finally bought that service valve cap).

You'll be able to tell how the unit is running just by a simple visual inspection once in a while. You should notice "sweat" on the suction line and the suction line service valve. Another thing you can do is watch the evaporator drain and see how much water it's putting out. If you notice a drop in the amount of condensation out the drain, go out and look at your suction line and see if it's sweating. If not, you're low on refrigerant. One caveat though, it can go the other way when overcharged too and you won't see any sweat. When it's close you'll see sweat on the line.

Shreader valve leak. I spy oil on the bottom right port in your picture. The two below are your service ports. Oil could be from having it recently recharged.

The other uncapped, I not sure of.

Steve, I have a bit less than 1/2 tank and you are welcome to it. My R22 system was replaced last year.

Thank you, James. I will probably take you up on that.

Need gauges? They can arrive quicker than amazon. Cylinder near full. I have 410 now. I don't need three sets of gauges when two do the job.

OK, if you're offering a cyl and some gauges, then sure. I'll take them. Let me know what you want for them. I'll be home all week.

I'll also be reaching out to the group when it comes time to do charging. I'm sure it's not hard, but I also don't want to over/under charge. I understand that things like temp can make a difference on what pressure to charge to.

PM sent.

Don't take em! It's a trap! That blue line in the center is supposed to be yellow! :D

mattdavis11 04-20-2021 08:21 AM

I have a yellow one on the other set. I should move it over to avoid confusion.;)
