Disposable gloves?
I have some huge caveman hands. My gloves break in seconds or minutes. So, I typically don’t use them.
What are you using? Thanks! |
I use the thickest nitrile gloves I can find when working on cars. I think they're 9mil.

Not disposable.
I love the hyflex for working with greasy machines. Quite a bit thicker than 9m nitrile, but thin enough and flexible and stretchy enough that I can still pick up a washer off the driveway. Grease wipes off with a rag so they're grippy all day. Wear is measured in weeks, not minutes. I think I got 'em at Tacoma Screw. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1619287345.jpg |

Tacoma Screw is the bomb. |
I have large hands and long fingers. :D
I use X-tra large nitrile for most things, but if I don't need a lot of dexterity and "feel" I use reusable gloves like Mike's. I do try to reuse the nitriles if I can. |
We use Microflex - Diamond Grip Latex Gloves. They're the best we've found.
|
I've got crazy big hands too. I just buy the biggest and thickest nitrile gloves I can find. I use each pair half a dozen times. I find other gloves too thick. Mind you I use regular leather gloves with the angle grinder, chainsaw etc.
|
5mil are usually garbage and tear easy. Light jobs only.
7mil for almost everything else. Can be reused. 9mil for handling objects and parts. You lose some fingertip sensation and dexterity. Garden gloves for heavy objects like shovels, plants, lumber, tires, etc |
Gloves have quadrupled in price in the last year or so
You can get sterile gloves in pretty large sizes, the brown ortho gloves are thick and tough. Will be significantly more pricey, but also durable |

While I use nitrile gloves my hands sweat like a pig 😠 . I mean water dripping out of them ! Because of that I use them for oil changes and brake work , other than that I use cloth type mechanic gloves.

Must be global warming killing all the nitrile trees
Oh yeah, get a bar of soap and scratch it under your fingernails prior to going to work, in case a glove breaks |
I’ve been using these to rebuild my Defender. By far the toughest I’ve found at 13mil.

^^
I have a box. Got them last summer when you couldn’t get gloves. The only size NAPA had was L They’re ok once they’re on, but they put up a fight. |

Have to take a break and drain them. Stuff paper towel around the wrist. |

Try "Venom Steel Splash Protection Industrial Gloves"
They have an extra long cuff, and are really great for working with paint, oil, solvents, etc. The grip has a texture so that you don't drop stuff. These are designed to get oily and not break. |

My hands are pretty big but not enormous. Which is surprising, since my johnson is colossal. I use the Harbor Freight ones, XL, 9mm, and they are hard to get on but they don't rip easily and they fit snug enough that I can do delicate work, somewhat. Baby powder helps get them on. |
