Exterior lighting, RGB spots/floods
I thought I posted this subject before but can't find it?
Looking to upgrade the spots/floods on my building. Anyone have experience with RGB LEDS? I have about 20 fixtures, I want to put in new fixtures that can have the light changed for various occasions/holidays from simple white to red or green or multiple colors say R/W/B. They don't necessarily need to change on their own and I don't like the fade from one color to the next. How does this work? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We just had RGB LED spots installed with new landscaping.
Each light is adjustable for schedule, brightness, and color via wifi and an IOS/Android app. It is slick once you get it setup.

Thanks for posting. Are they done individually? Do you have a brand or something I can research? |

We have six lights that were set individually. I don’t know if you can create groups. I will investigate this option. Website, www.vistapro.com/apps

I remember that thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1004193-exterior-led-lighting-gurus.html
Baz has also posted about landscape lights. Hope he chimes in.

I will say that a major consideration should be what the housing is constructed of. Corrosion of outdoor fixtures is a major concern for us along the coastline and everywhere else to some degree, I suspect.
I have some fixtures that are made of PVC that are great. The high end ones are usually bronze, brass, or copper. I put some el-cheapo Malibu plastic lights in back in '97 and they are still looking and working fine - so plastic/pvc not a bad alternative, if you can get them! ![]() Then you get into aesthetics, of course.

Per my last post about the Malibu lights I put in at my house in '97.......I found a pic I took right afterwards and here's one of them. Big old path lights that used a wedge type halogen bulb. Low voltage of course.
Zero corrosion on them and eventually I replaced every one except one that is still in service, although with an LED wedge bulb now. I realize this has zero to do with the RGB topic but thought it relevant to the point about corrosion I was making. ![]()
