Posting pics

I know I have asked this before. So please help this dumb siht. That would be me. I spend about an hour maybe two max daily. Most of it is work related.

Say I have the need to post a pic of a tire here. I normally google the name and go to image and it pops up. I click and drag it over to my desk top and then drag it in the photo box. Often then not, its blocked. How do you get around it or if there's a way to do it?

Maybe the file is too big, or it doesn't have the right extension. Sometimes dragging a photo off the web gives you a URL link instead of a .jpg or .png file. Need to do a screen capture for those if you want to create .jpg or .png files.

You can also 'right click' on the image that you want. Then click on 'copy image address'.
Then go to quick reply on PP and click on the little envelope and paste it.

STeve, I have copy image, copy image link, but not copy image address. I jsut tried without success. I have a mac of that makes any difference?

I right click, save picture as, to my desktop. Then I either drag it or download it.

After you drag an image from the web to your desktop, If you have a mac, "Control" click on the thumbnail, the drop down asks you what you want to open it with, hit preview. When it opens, go to the 'file' menu at the top, and "export". At the prompt, just make sure you save it as a jpeg to the desktop.

Then you can drag the new jpeg thumbnail to the dropbox for Pelican

I try to save the image to my desktop as a .jpg

If it's not a jpg I try again until I find one, then save that one to the desktop.

then in the upload don't drag but click to upload and select the file off your desktop.

If you have a Mac. Drag it to photos then you can upload it from there

Wow. Learned a lot of stuff in this thread. Who knew there were so many options? Not me!

Works like a charm.

I tried some of the suggestions but didn't work or the option isn't on my computer. Will try that now, sounds easy enough. Thanks

Drag the picture to your desktop. If it has ".png" after the name just click on the image, at the top in the toolbar click "edit" then "rename' and type a name then ".jpg". It will ask if you want to use jpg or png., click jpg. Then you can post the pic.

When you "rename" make sure you delete the whole name including the png.

Pelican parts won't allow you to upload .png files. I think it's only .jpg and .gif.

If the .png is already on the internet somewhere else, that is fine.

This is a .png file that's on the internet (pinterest, I think). I copied the "image address location" or "image location" or whatever your browser says, and then click the tiny iconhttps://forums.pelicanparts.com/imag...nsertimage.gif above my post and paste the address.

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b6/7f...36ef7b4505.png

That's the best way for images that are already on the Internet somewhere. Some addresses won't paste well. For instance, I think some sites will yield an address that doesn't include a file name. Those often won't work and would require you to save the image and then upload.

I try to not upload to PP if I don't have to so I save them drive space. I know it's cheap these days, but it adds up when it's thousands of images.

If you want to upload, you'll have to convert to .jpg or .gif.

or, ONLY change the .png to .jpg but leave the rest of the name.

Rule one, it really needs to be a JPG file. An PNG file will never work, neither will the dozens of other formats.

If you have a Windows computer, there is a Pictures folder already. Make a folder in the pictures folder and call it something like Pelican. Put any photo you want to upload to Pelican in there.

Once you have a picture called whatever.jpg look at the bottom of the post box and you will see a large "Go Advanced" button.

Once you go into Go Advanced, there is a large blue bar that says "Click Here to Upload Photos" so click it.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1620666079.jpg

It will look like this. Drag the photo to that window, or click once in the window, and it will bring up the file folder info and you can find the photo or photos you want to upload. Just select up to 10 images, and it will upload them. Then click preview post at the bottom of the window and you can see if it worked. Then post it.

Done!

.gif works just fine.

.png works just fine as long as it's already on the Internet and you link to it like the photo of birds that I posted above.. .png is only a problem if you want to upload it to the PP servers.

It also does not allow me to import into Photos. This started happening some time ago where I have been having a hard time posting pics. This is pissing me off. I am so fooking dumb when it comes to stuff like this.
