Holster recommendations.

I've picked up an ex CHP S&W .40 caliber auto. There is only a thumb safety, no grip safety or that annoying Glock trigger crap. Reasonably secure but no need for lock in as I don't expect to wrestling with any meth heads. I will source mag holders separately.

I absolutely hate going into Cabela's and having to submit myself to the nanny safety crapola to bring a firearm into the store even if you have a CCW. I my case an out of state one but is valid and reciprocal. As I am in line with all the other MOFOs in GA. I'm looking at another two months.

Last time it took me 20 minutes to get in the freaking door. I wanna see how it fits and hate returning stuff.

I plan on using a tactical nylon belt which is also the same as the fanny pack I use to carry my schizzle. So a clip that slides over the belt and not fed thru the belt and to be ambidextrous. Coverage will be a long shirt or jacket. An optional tie down at the bottom of the holster is OK.

Recommendations are appreciated. Smartazz comments are not. I know that S/S clashes with pink bunny ears.

I bought an Urban Carry lock leather holster that I really like. I have a crossbreed Reckoning that can be inside or outside the waistband. I only wore it outside but never really liked it.

My reckoning uses speed clips over the belt. Damn near knocked the thing off my belt stooping down to pick something up while walking my woods which is what made me buy a loop style. The reckoning has through loops that I put on too. Just wasn't a comfortable OWB holster for me.

When I downed sized to the 9m Beretta, I spent some time on this site looking at options:

I know you want to do a fit check, but the site helped me get ideas and narrow the search.

I had a Crossbreed that I felt was a fine holster but IWB hurts my back after a while due to sciatica. I now wear a belly band and love it.

On June 12-13 there are gun shows in Lawrenceville and Marietta I highly recommend going to whichever one is closer for you . Lots of vendors selling guns/ammo/holsters etc etc and you can touch and feel to make sure you like . Everyone there has the same passion so it's a friendly environment . It's a good way to burn a few hours and maybe learn a thing or two .

Thanks, good idea on the shows for a holster. Probably not a good source for ammo. EVERYONE in this area is searching for that. Prices are out of sight especially for 9mm.

I do not CC so I opted for a belt holster with a quick release snap. I like the security of the snap. The 92D is a DAO version and has no safety at all and you can carry with a round in the pipe.

I chose an El Paso Saddlery model in leather and like it a lot.

Crossbreed makes a very nice holster (supertuck) IWB. And the horsehide upgrade helps if you live in a hot, damp (sweaty) environment.

Alien Gear makes a VERY similar holster (actually, I think now there are some new features) that is much less expensive. I don't think the AG is as comfy as the CB.

positive retention is good. In my experience, an IWB doesn't need it like on OWB. With an IWB, assuming it's got a leather backing and is flexible, the flexibility and the pants/belt that is holding it up provides pretty good retention.

Many years ago, I ordered ammo from one of the big sites. I got good prices back then. I get emails from that site still although I normally just delete them. I got an email earlier this week and was curious what they had and what their prices were.

9mm lowest price for what was essentially target/plinking ammo, 115gr fmj, started at 65-66¢/rd. If you wanted defense stuff, they had it and I think it ran $1.20-$1.50/rd.

It's VERY unfortunate that WalMart stopped selling handspoon food. I think 9mm WWB used to be 20¢/rd.

FWIW, the "lock leather" has an adjustable retaining clip that grips the trigger guard. You can adjust it so the draw is lighter or stiffer depending on how you like the feel of it. I've held the holster upside down and shook it. The gun stayed put.

I have a summer comfort from Galco and it is comfy with the 1911, but my uncle gave me a belly band and it is great, especially in the car.

I go on Ebay click the free shipping, free returns. Buy everything you like. It gets sent to your house. Try them all out for thirty days send back the ones you don't like.

I have been using a Fobus paddle holster for years and it just works for me...
