Opportunity
There is a shop in the Phoenix metro area that is run by one of the most knowledgeable air cooled guys I have ever met. His shop has been in existence for quite a long while. The owner is finding it nearly impossible to find help. He is willing to train mechanics and it is possible there is a mid-term potential to take the shop over.
My sense is he is one of a number of guys that all of us know and rely on to fix our cars. His knowledge is unsurpassed. Rumor is if you work on air cooled cars in the SW US you most likely have worked with him This is somewhat a selfish post. He has taken care of my car, provided high quality repairs at a fair price, he is a mechanic not a parts replacer. There are other shops in town, but none of the integrity of this one If there are any young folks or even middle aged who would want to learn air cooled cars, this is shop to join. If anyone is interested, pm me. He knows that was putting this up, but did not want to be identified right out of the box. |
maybe a retirement side hustle? :)
personally, i'm tired at my office gig. just the thought of changing the drive axles makes me feel like calling it a beer-break. |
Will working on air cooled Porsches be a living in the long run? Are there enough of them on the road being driven? I hardly see any anymore these days.

I can think of 3 shops here in town that this might apply to. 🤣🤣🤣 finding young guys that want to learn to wrench at that level is hard.

I often tell my customers that all the smart air cooied guys are retired or dead
Luckily for them I'm not that bright |
There aren't many good air cooled guys looking for work (because they're all working already).
