I had also read an article years ago where Joni uses so many alternate tunings on her songs she would get a bit frustrated retuning or having to tweak a guitar for a different song.

Bill Asher (Elizabeth "Bewitched" Montgomery's son) is a luthier who was able to build her a guitar that could quickly change tunings. He said when he handed her the guitar and showed her how to change tunings she broke down in tears of joy.

A very good watch, I'm not his biggest fan but I came away with a greater appreciation of his talent and work ethic. FF- Edmund Fitzgerald is one of those "first take is the best take" hits.!

I was always a bit of a fan but the doc gave me a whole new appreciation for his songs and lyrics. I didn't know so many singers and groups had covered his songs! "Early Morning Rain" was rerecorded by a lot of people.

incredible talent, on so many levels.
Joni story:
i have an acquaintance that owned/operated the Riverboat Coffee house in Toronto. 1960's
Her ex husband still manages Gordon Lightfoot.
Joni failed her first audition. still lotsa laughs about that error in judgement .......

I’ve watched interviews and biographies that mention over and over that creative stew that was Joni, Mama Cass, Crosby, Stllls, Nash, John Sebastian, Neil Young, etc in L.A. in the late ‘60s. They worked and hung out together and fed off each other’s talents. So much great music came out of that place and era.
Thanks for this thread. So many memories and so much good music brought back to mind.

He had an abdominal aneurysm a couple of decades ago and almost died. He lost a bunch of weight and was never able to get it back.
We saw him in concert a couple of years ago. He said off mic to the band, “I think I might have a Trilogy in me tonight.” The crowd heard it and stood and cheered, but he decided he couldn’t do it.

A 2014 interview of Joni and what she thinks of the current "music" being produced:

In the meantime, Sex Kills

I saw an interview with Graham Nash. He said that when Joni writes music, she goes somewhere else and talks to God. No one else like her.

Gordon Lightfoot is one of my favorites from an era of favorites.

His Canadian Railroad Trilogy is absolutely brilliant.

I just heard that this one is also 50 years old:

It takes him a couple of minutes to get going.
