Fun weekend car under $15K

Thinking about a toy to have fun in, summers, weekends.

Must haves:

Manual Tranmission
great exhaust note
2 door
very good power to weight, or potential
lower cost to maintain
under $15K

Miata is on my list but thinking NC, with a Turbo.

Already have a 911SC, won't do another German car. $$$

Find an early 2000s Jeep Wrangler TJ. Gave mine to my son when I got the Gladiator.

^^^ I agree.

I am probably on the outside looking in on owning a Jeep at this point, and with the LC, but there is so much you can do with the Wrangler.

However, If you like playing pool, check this out :

Or you could finish your 911.

Have you shopped Vettes yet ? You may need to invest in a gold chain, large collared button down shirt and a big tuft of chest hair, but serious bang for the buck and hits all your needs spot on

I agree with Fred , specifically C5 Corvettes seem to provide a lot of bang for the buck.

Miata, obviously. I have a Cayman R and a NA Miata. While the Cayman is superior in almost every way, the Miata just puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. And its a fraction of the cost to own and operate. The reality is, Ill probably sell the Cayman before the Miata.

When I told my son I was going to sell the 911 I told him the next logical step in this is to buy a Miata. He couldn't for the life of him figure out why a Miata. I said "I think that's what every former 911 owner moves to for some reason". All the mention of a Miata makes me chuckle a bit.

My pick would be a Subaru Wrx. AWD fun and a turbo... does it get any better? My second would be a Focus ST hatchback.

I have a Jeep JK as a daily,

I am looking at a 1999 Subaru Coupe, with a V7 Still swap and a 4.44 RA trans

Also looking at a 1996 Cobra with a Vortech S/C

Also looking at older FOX mustangs because childish fun and the best sound ever.

I have thought about a Vette, I like the 1996 LT4, hate the C5, if I sold the SC I'd consider a C7 GS

A Miata is basically a 911 with easier power potential, more reliable and 100X cheaper to own.

My Son has my JWC R53 cooper, only FWD car I would want. Amazingly fun car.

Finishing the 911 doesn't get me anything. I can't drive and enjoy it, it breaks every time I touch it. An 200hp isn't exactly thrilling on the straight flat roads we have around here.

I feel your pain. You think it's flat there? The Detroit area seems mountainous compared to where I live
BTW, You didn't say you wanted straight line speed. You said you wanted fun. Take a WRX up to Northern Michigan and drive the two tracks!
