Best deal I could find with all the bells and whistles and there was a FULL 6 MONTH REFUND for any reason. The customer service was /is great as I have had to go back a few times for some fine tuning and they are there for any assistance I need with questions or more fine tuning.
I wore them ALL DAY every day for almost 2 years then the inside of my ears started itching/tickling (both ears)after a few hours when wearing them. So much itching/tickling that I’d take them out and try again the next day. SAME PROBLEM AROSE. In talking with other hearing aid wearers some said the same thing and recommended I put a drop of Baby Oil in my ears. I tried and it kinda sorta worked, maybe letting me wear them for an additional few hours?
SO, I have made an appointment with an ear specialist to see what is going on and if there is anything wrong with my ears (besides not working). My regular doctor suggested I go to an established hearing aid shop in San Carlos and see if maybe my “all the way in the ear hearing aids” are not right for me and maybe look at some others that fit like the Apple Ear Pods.

Did you try using a smaller size of cup thingy?

I’m sure H/A’s are in my future.

I have the cicadas in my head too; from what I understand, h/a's aren't much help, but maybe some others can chime in if they've heard something different?

I got glasses today - distance and reading marking another milestone in the journey to/of old age.

Don. I use Lipo Flavinoid tablets - expensive as hell for a supplement. I think it helps and afraid to stop using it in case the tinnitus comes ripping back.

I have the same problem as "rfaust6024" with putting things in my ears & hope I don't have to get hearing aids some day.,

H/A’s can at attenuate the effects of tinnitus. They do not reduce the tinnitus itself but provide your brain with acoustic stimuli that acts as a distraction.

Also, just as with pain management, many people can be trained (or train themselves) to reduce tinnitus.

I would have liked to buy mine (Wydex) at Costco as I have heard good things about their hearing aids (price) but the closest one is Charleston, 2 hours away. I needed to buy them locally in case there were problems. Mine came with a small piece (about the size of a car remote) that broadcasts the TV into my hearing aids. My wife made me get them too but as usual…she was right!

Finally got rid of mine! Get old enough and get cataract surgery. Had glasses since I was about 18, bifocals the last 15 years or so. Now with multi focal lens can see distance and read w/o glasses. Took about three months to stop reaching to take them off before getting into bed!

I had cataract surgery too. Easy peasy ! Suddenly everything is in high definition. Modern medicine(science) is awesome!

Any reports on the Bose hearing enhancers? Paired to your cell.

I'm about to join that club...almost looking forward to it. Thanks for the multifocal plug. thinking of going with them over the single focus.

Kind of wondering what the switch will do to my pool game...it involves having good focus from around two to twelve feet.

I found that seeing at least two of every ball on the table made my pool game better.

It takes time to get used to for sure. When I got mine I thought it was way too loud as the traffic / street noise was crazy loud. But after a few days things improved. I use Widex Moment RIC type and really like it. Plus, with the app I can do all kinds of tricks with it as needed.

Got a pair of Oticon hearing aids from the VA. Stationed on a carrier in Nam, noise all day and night. Hearing deteriorated over the years, cannot hear low db sounds. Wife is soft spoken, and I can’t hear her half the time, so off to the VA I went to have a hearing test, got a pair at no cost to me. They were about $6K and Audiologist tuned them in via computer. I can get a new pair every 6 years and I wear them mostly around the house so I can talk with my wife whom I still have trouble hearing especially when she’s in another room talking so softly that I can’t hear her even with the volume turned up. She gets mad, I just shrug and point to my hearing aids and tell her to speak up! Kinda lost cause having a conversation with her.

fwiw: noise cancelling headphones minimize my (fairly bad) tinnitus - for some strange reason.

Hmmm. I might need to try some of those.
Anyone here (hear?) have real world experience with the newest Kirkland hearing aids?
The industry has some quirks in Canada and prices are not advertised.
Kind of a closed shop monopoly thing going on...
The Bose hearing aids are not advertised on the Canadian site.

Bugsinrugs 11-18-2021 02:36 PM

My Audiologist told me the Kirkland brand are very good. Mostly last years technology.

Mine are Widex as well...similar, but an earlier version (beyond). Like yours, they are very small and hard to see. I have had them for several years and am thinking about upgrading eventually (but they are pricey and these still work). If set up by your audiologist properly, they make one's hearing pretty darn close to normal (in some cases, better)...but most of us have not heard "normal" or driving and enjoy the relative silence. I often don't put them in right away in the morning for the same reason.

Mine have a sort of AI where they automatically adjust based on the situation (for example, zooms in on the speaker in a meeting while fading other conversations slightly). There are about a half dozen modes t will automatically switch to as well as some specific ones you can change to yourself based on what you are listening to (phone, music, etc.).. They are great for listening to music or receiving phone calls from my IPhone. No one else can hear and the sound is great. When I listen to music via bluetooth from my phone, I can dial out/turn off the tiny microphones that pick up outside sound with the phone app (if I choose) which improves listening even more.

The price for batteries would be pretty prohibitive if I did not get them on ebay in large volume (they are pretty cheap then).

Lucky you, I started wearing glasses at 5, and they were thick bifocals too. In high school I switched over to contacts, and in I think, 2008, had PRK surgery. Still 2015, but the close up for reading is gone, so now I have to wear cheaters. My optometrist did warn me, that after I hit 50, I would most likely need reading glasses. So now, a set of reading glasses in each car and in each room ;)
Back on topic, looks like I will be getting a new set of hearing aids soon to replace the ones that got lost in the crash.
