Why not? Whatever sells, right? Will it be electric with an interactive sound system?

Geronimo '74 11-25-2021 02:31 AM

Maybe, but not likely IMO

GH85Carrera 11-25-2021 06:43 AM

Lots of people were agast at the news they were going to make a SUV. The Cayenne & Macan made Porsche a ton of money.

Likely any all new vehicle will be electric just to satisfy the greenies in Germany. I am sure I was not the targeted customer base for one, and I will not be buying one. If it keeps Porsche making the 718s and 911s that is a great thing.

jbryan 11-25-2021 07:35 AM

I'm with Glen on this one!

island911 11-25-2021 07:42 AM

Already been done.

Seriously, VAG (VW) owns it all now.
They are also having to meet all of the nanny-state requirements.

It will be interesting to see what VAG badges as Porsche.

Oh, and I will note that the Cayenne is a much better driver than what should be the same VW T-reg.

GH85Carrera 11-25-2021 08:13 PM

The Porsche and Piech families own the majority of stock in VW group. So whatever is done, it will be best for Porsche.

Black968 11-25-2021 09:26 PM

Maybe a rebadged VW ID Buzz? Believe they will be out next year.

A 3 row SUV instead of my Sienna? Why yes, sign me up!

But wait, by then my oldest will be out of the house so I don’t really need a third row….

Exactly. There's no GT3 RS without a siht-ton of Cayennes sold to soccer moms.

island911 11-26-2021 10:17 AM

Cayennes are not so much sold to soccer moms. Too small. Too pricey too.

Why is that?

So I guess many people are buying BMW X7s and they want a piece of the pie.

An SUV is a mini-van for people in denial of owning a mini-van...

island911 12-07-2021 09:15 PM

Nope. ^

Maybe more like the station wagon of the 2k's. But even that, not so much.

And OK with less actual utility.

GG Allin 12-08-2021 10:32 AM

The Minivan replaced the Station Wagon, due to CAFE

I was one of those people. I was vehemently against it for many reasons, but now I have to admit it is one fine vehicle, and a very smart decision for the company. Business is business.

Steve Carlton 12-08-2021 11:39 AM

I always thought Volvo should make one because of their stellar safety reputation and success with the XC90.

URY914 12-08-2021 12:45 PM

When is the pickup coming out?

That is just sweet.
Personally I have always liked minivans and staionwagons, err shooting brakes.

At the time the factory built that van, some of the members of our PCA region were in Germany, on a tour of the factory. The War Bonnet Region PCA has good relations with the factory, and they sent speakers to our tech sessions. Anyway, the members that were in Germany had Tony Lapine, the head stylist at Porsche, load them up in one of the vans, and haul ass down the Autobahn, and they were passing Mercedes and BMWs and getting a lot of strange looks of amazement. They ended up at some small restaurant that was a favorite of Tony's.
