11:18 am. That made me jump!
Cell phone went off. I had forgotten about the emergency broadcast system test. Both me and my pup jumped a few inches.
Good news is that the system seems to work. |

I forgot I had my phone in my pocket. I usually only carry it when out on the bike or in the car, not at home.

I was just happy I could silence mine. I wonder what emergency they are planning so they can use it for real?
We have Tornado Warning on occasion, and the cell phones and the TV so to a screen with the emergency warning in English them Spanish, then back to English and Spanish. The TV mute will not even mute!

On my iPhone, I just hit the same button I use to silence the ringer from a spam phone call. The single button on the right side.
I have also turned off Amber alerts for my phone. I never pay attention to kids in my day to day life. I would never be able to identify or help the authorities, even if the kid had been next to to me in public unless the kid asked for my help or did something unusual.

Had our TV & Radios off, cell phone off...not a peep on our land line phones.

I was on the road at the time. There were a couple of drivers that make rather sharp turns onto the shoulder...without signaling.
I live within ground zero of Picatinny Arsenal, so I've been ready to be vaporized for a long time.

My first Ma Bell phone was a rotary. Most of my phone calls seemed to have a lot of 9, 8, and 9 and of course 0. No speed dialing!
Back in the day when no one owned a phone, they were all rented from Bell. I had one get faulty, and took in in. The lady just tossed it over her shoulder into a big bin, and handed me a new one. Thanks! Back when long distance was insane expensive.
