At least in my 2010 it is a timing chain, and the rear 3 spark plugs are a HUGE pain in the arse. Have to take apart part of the upper engine cowling, wiper motors and thats after taking off the intake and a crap ton of other parts. It's DIY but time consuming and tedious

Worst of all, the transmission is the worst of any car I've owned. It lags and hunts. My daughter says it's the only "uncool" car of our 5 vehicles.

But, my oldest just got his drivers license a few weeks ago and he can't be too picky. So he's driving it and I won't feel too bad when the inevitable accident happens. (as long as it keeps him safe, that is)
This is why I'm thinking 2016 or slightly earlier. Has the 6 speed trans. which is supposed to be better behaved. Comfort issues noted.

Also looking at a 4Runner. The new 2022 4Runner is supposed to have a much better ride. A 4Runner might be too off-roadish for me. I don't go off road much. I also want a vehicle that can hold my bike without taking the front wheel off. I still need to check that with the HL.

4 Runner will consume more gas too.

That was my reaction to the one that we test drove.

A lot of newer vehicles are like that, and I don't get it. Some are not bad, but some are, and when they are, you have to sit in a weird position or the headrest is constantly bumping the back of your head.

Yeah, but there's (IMO) a huge difference between FWD in a small vehicle and in a fairly large vehicle. IMO, in the larger vehicle it's worse than in little vehicles.
