I hate Android and Googlesux phones...

There .... I feel better now :). So I've gotten nottifications the past two mornings at 8am that it's time to take my vitamins (never turned any crap on, appears to be off in Goog assistant) and I can barely get this sentence typed....
my cursor keep jumping back to random spots. Now y'all know I can't tupe or speel anyways .... but this makes me feel stooopid :D.

Any suggestions on this cursor jumping crap .... it happened years ago and I can't remember what I did to stop it.... might have been .357 ... I dunno?

Set your phone on a table....instead of on your lap. :D

I did a Iphone hate thread last week. Android only for me.:D

How old is your phone? What model?

LEAKYSEALS951 12-16-2021 02:12 PM

My new $50 4g bluetooth flip phone does not suffer such :D :D :D

(because it is 4g- I only wear one layer of tin foil on my head.)

^I am with this guy^

If you figure out the jumping cursor thing, let us know

HobieMarty 12-16-2021 02:21 PM

Have you tried restarting the phone?

It's two daze older than when it worked fine with no Vitamin reminders and cursor jumps ;). When I pulled it outta my pocket the other day ... the screen was in the middle of some type of Googlecrapsetup which I stopped. Oh yeah .... each gmail access now gets a "new device detected" email from the bastids ....

I'll turn off the phone .... but that's not likely to help. I have everything possible disabled fwiw ... that's how I roll .... zero apps, nada.

I may reset it back to factory defaults, think I did that to fix "Oh snap" errors a few years back and they have occasionally reappeared lately....

Oh yeah ... Iphones suck too... my mom has one for facetime.

They both can just bite my azz .... rat bastids .... all both of them :(.

I want a phone like Andy Griffith had :)

Thanks for the rant space .... I'm done .... for now ;)

There's a swipe feature that probably got reactivated. You can swipe to fill in text or move the cursor. Go into settings for the keyboard and look for swipe controls or something like that. If it's enabled, disable all swipe controls. That should fix it.

KFC911 12-17-2021 03:04 AM

Thanks Nick! I'll look around for that later .... it's dawgy time and gonna be a beautimous day outside :)...

My goto phone tech guy sells tractors :D

Try developing for the platform.

You'll really hate it then.

gacook 12-17-2021 10:38 AM

I've had android phones pretty much forever. The only time I've ever had the cursor "jump" is from the swipe stuff Nick mentioned, or if there's ANY water on the phone--even a drop. Those screen sensors are very sensitive.

It's the same engine, just 2 days older than when I did the money shift. There should be nothing wrong. Porschesux engines!
Why is your head bleeding? It's the same cranium, just 2 days older than when I dropped a bowling ball on my head. There should be nothing wrong.

Sugarbritches .... yer just a fuchin' idiot .... and I'm being polite when I say that ... but I do find you amusing :)...

KFC911 12-17-2021 03:07 PM

Hey Nick (or anybody but Sugarbritches that can help ;)), I've looked around in the virtual keyboard (gboard) settings and I don't see anything pertaining to swipes, etc.

That said, I do recall that a few years back the gboard went wonky, and I reset back to factory settings (as it shipped). That always works for a generic phone. It's a Moto G6 btw, and seems to be fine now after a power off reset. I should have done that initially... I do know that much .... I just like to rant :D. I may reset back to factory .... but it's a PITA turning everything off again and setting my preferences back up.

Thanks all .... well almost all ;)!

cabmandone 12-17-2021 03:28 PM

Try this:
Go to settings, Go to General Management, then go to language and input. You might have to go into keyboard settings from there. I use Samsung keyboard so your options might be different.

Maybe this will help?

Since moving to an Android phone I get a lot more typos.

So somehow the iPhone has the better keyboard design - Seems strange because the keyboards look very similar.

KFC911 12-18-2021 02:05 AM

Thanks guys! I've gone back through all the settings .... nada. Anyways, I'm not getting reminded to take vitamins, the cursor jumps have stopped, and I didn't waste a .357 round ..... so all is good :).

KFC911 12-19-2021 04:23 AM

Damnit .... I forgot to take my vitamins 15 minutes ago ... at least my cursor isn't jumping anymore.

I see the freakin' reminder there in Googsux assistant, it's turned off, and I even set the date for June 2022.

I don't have any vitamins, but I've got a whole bunch of calibers to choose from..... decisions, decisions, decisions :D.

I'll prolly do a factory reset when I've got some time to kill ....

KILL ....just has a nice ring to it .... bang, bang, bang ;)

KFC911 12-19-2021 04:27 AM

Think I just found it .... turned all goog notifications off and goog is still gonna suck :).... time will tell.

flatbutt 12-19-2021 07:49 AM

This is why I stick with my iphone 6, it's finally sorted.

If only we knew of someone that retired from a long, storied, successful IT career. That person would probably figure this out and fix it in a minute!

THe problem is that you're asking a bunch of old guys. If you'd asked a 12 year old, they'd have fixed it in seconds and it would be overclocked, picking up pay for satellite TV and free streaming all the pr0n you could hope for.

And no longer receives security updates or new iOS versions. You'll need to move up to a 6S if you want to avoid the nasty security bugs from pre-v15.0 iOS.
