Is Colorado hell on Earth?

It seems every news story that comes out of Colorado is bad. Rampant mass shool shootings, A truck driver receiving 110 year sentence and now massive wild fires.

Growing up I always thought Colorado was a little slice of heaven on Earth? What is going on there? It seems nothing positive is coming from Colorado.

I am watching the news this morning and the devastation from the fires is massive . Crazy high winds fanning the flames . I wish Colorado citizens the best .

The high desert has always been a challenge. Good luck to all.

If all you see is the main stream media, then likely so. It is almost as bad as California with recent forest fires and millions of acres and homes burned, recent floods, mudslides, and power outages. Throw in killer earthquakes race riots and rampant homelessness and gang murders. But the weather is nice in California.

NJ had a big storm that causes so much damage they called it super storm Sandy, yet that is just a made up name for a big thunderstorm. It was not even a hurricane, yet caused massive damage to the area.

There is no place like home for most people. Every location has problems, and the media always make it look worse.

We have been having a couple of range/grass fires every day near me (SW Oklahoma).
Mostly farm land. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1640958282.jpg

Not sure where you got your information on Sandy but, Sandy was in fact a Hurricane. I agree every area has their issues but for quite sometime it seems there aren't any positive news stories coming out of Colorado.

A few years ago I took a MC trip to Colorado and saw the damage done by the fires then. It's no joke.

Best day I've had in five years was when I boarded a plane and left that crappy State.

mjohnson 12-31-2021 06:32 AM

It's a great place - my inlaws are there and I spent 7y of college and grad school in Golden. Too many people though these days (a traditional "I'm here now so slam the door shut" of course)

Those winds are no joking matter. I remember semis getting blown over on 93 between Golden and Boulder frequently.

Given the winds, this doesn't likely didn't matter here, but after the fires in NM (Los Alamos) it was found that most of the damage came from pine needles/litter/etc "bridging" to the houses. So, go clean up your yards and roofs!

State bashing is a popular thing here.

I had an Uncle that was in the Air Force and stationed at the Air Force Academy. In January of 1985 he and my aunt flew me out there and I spent a little over a week in Colorado Springs. We went snow skiing, went to the Garden of the Gods park, went to several basketball and hockey games, I had a great time there in Colorado and thought I would want to live there at the time, and growing up in Florida, I was in awe of the mountains and real snow.
I feel for the people affected by the fires there and wish them the best. Hell of a way to start a new year. [emoji852]

If one seeks out negativity, one will find it.

Everything that's bad about New Jersey - real or perceived - has been fixed or solved and we can start fixin' up the rest of the US!

General bashing is the norm.

I’m sitting in my warm house in California on generator power. The recent storms has made things challenging but I’m grateful that I have plenty of wood to warm the house and fuel to run the generator. Nature wins every time.

Bad news has always sold well.

Remember there's a reason they're now called "Media companies" and not "news"

The regional & seasonal winds in SoCal are called Santana (Devil) winds. What is the wind nickname associated to that area?
Dealing with a wind driven fire scenario is truly scary stuff, been there, done that. Everything changes instantly, really, really unsettling.
