Looking to upsize your pad?
Just happened to see this on realtor.com. It's been for sale for 6 months, so it will take a very particular buyer.
https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1356-County-Road-SS-1352_Onalaska_WI_54650_M93572-00711 5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, but 6300sqft of finished space. Another 2000sqft of warehouse / man cave / dream garage, with a loading dock, and another 900sqft workshop / wife's garage. This was the office / showroom for L R Ross, a custom home builder. You could probably live comfortably in the upstairs and turn the main floor into more garage / museum space. Certainly not for everyone. Definitely not for me, except the 2000sqft garage space. |

What's up with the garage?
That looks like a loading dock which is cool and a nice extra but why not have a bigger door to get stuff into the garage from the loading dock?

What a strange house. That said, it seems to be a combination of house/business, where he worked out of and sold homes.
It’s a very industrial/business area. ![]() |

Yes, it was a house / showroom for a custom home builder. He branched out to building his own cabinets, and there's a cabinet workshop on site. No pictures on realtor.com but there are other's on the listing realtor's site.
To the east, the street is single family homes on large lots. To the west is the city line between Onalaska and La Crosse, and the La Crosse industrial park. The main Kwik Trip site is there, and there is a constant stream of Kwik Trip semis on that road. There's also a UPS building in the park, a foundry, maybe there's still a plumbing distributor, lots of business and parts of the failed North - South Corridor, which was supposed to be a 4 lane link from the interstate to La Crosse, but the nimbys voted it down. So now there's an industrial park with no good access to the interstate, the traffic is all on that road in front of this office / house. Kwik Trip will probably get the north end of this road pushed through in the next few years. You can see part of it on the map above, the line in the soccer fields in the lower right. |

About 3 1/2 hours too far west for me.
Oh, and my price range for car storage doesn’t reach quite that far either……. |
