This is a cool story. A Canadian fan of Randy Bachman in 2020 found his 1957 Gretsch that was stolen in 1977 after searching for it online based on the grain until he found a listing for it in Japan (after it was sold) and traced the current owner.

Yes, that was all over the news up here. Have met Randy many many years ago, quite the character. Glad he got his guitar back!!

I fear I have another case of GAS building up. Thinking a strat type guitar this time. Maybe build rather than buy. What's up with the reliced guitars? Why would I want to buy a brand new guitar, or guitar body, that has half the paint missing? A lot of them, it's not even missing in the obvious places, like where your arm might rest, or pick wear, it's just random areas of missing paint. I don't get it. Would it be blasphemy to buy a MJT body, sand it down and refinish it? Or even Fender will sell you a body, I could sand off the poly finish and lacquer it. Or just leave it alone. With my bad ears, I probably can't hear the difference anymore anyway.
For your viewing pleasure, a couple guitars that just sit in their cases today. On the left is a mongrel, Charvel neck on a Jackson or Charvel body, I never knew which it was. Floyd Rose, although the tremolo area isn't really routed for a Floyd Rose, it works. I think it had a Schaller trem originally. I installed a 5 way switch and wired it so that you can coil split the humbucker. The other is a Washburn, again with a Floyd Rose. Pickups are switched on and off with the 3 toggle switches, and you can coil split the humbucker by pulling up on the volume knob. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1657823806.jpg |
Lots of guitar players here, we should have a thread showcasing everyone’s talent.

I find baritones intriguing. I wish I could justify one from James White. This video was made by an accomplished guitarist Bear Davis, who's had several of the best. I love the sound of this, but it's way out of my price range for a specialty guitar. So, it's a bucket guitar...

PRS "Pauls" guitar.. I'm liking it..
Interestingly its slightly larger than my Ibanez Artist, yet the Artist is almost 2# heavier..http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1661898438.jpg |

speaking of guitar collections
Vince pulls out his 1942 martin D-28 that is in "remarkable condition" and hands it to a college kid to play like it's no big deal. <iframe width="900" height="506" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SjZMDqnmBsg" title="Vince Gill picked up a guitar and what happened next was remarkable" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Nice Martin HardDrive! I nearly bought one several times but somehow always got waylayed. These are the ones that populate the music room currently. Others have come and gone but all of these are regular players or hold some personal history.
