Roy, "Hey, watch this!"

Glen, "Here, Hold my beer"

total agreement. Glen Campbell is one of the greatest guitar players ever. Also severely underrated.

Steve Carlton 03-01-2022 05:06 PM

Yep, and a great writer and studio musician. Chris Isaak had a show that featured one star at a time. This episode had Glen Campbell.

Underrated? Really? I think his work with the Wrecking Crew alone puts him into the pantheon of legendary axemen. If he's underrated that's a crying shame.

Make a post asking people to list only their favorite guitarist. I'd be curious to see where Glen ends up. That's what I meant by underrated...certainly meant no slam on his talent. But I do think less talented names would be on the list ahead of Glen.

Lost my father in August of '68.

But not before passing along his passion for good music to his sons.

He used to really enjoy Roy Clark!

Memories.......

Yeah, no disrespect to Roy. I used to watch him on Hee Haw back in the day. He was very entertaining!

My Grandfather and Grandmother loved to go to Reno to drink, gamble and see shows.

They went one time and had seen Roy Clark. I remember my Grandmother telling me "It was great, he was great! Roy played guitar, banjo, mandolin, the sonuva***** could play everything!".

I think that was the first time I heard my Grandmother swear.

What is everyone’s favorite Ghost Riders?

Johnny’s is slower, but his singing nails it. I know there are some great versions out there.

Not Roy or Glen but since the topic was spraying the audience with notes, here's one.
If you don't like country music just skip over to the guitar solo.
Dixie Dregs and their version of Wabash Cannonball "The Bash"

ever see Glen play Classical Gas?

drcoastline 03-02-2022 01:43 AM

Both those guys were awesome.

asphaltgambler 03-02-2022 05:16 AM

Little known fact was that Glen couldn't read music.....

flatbutt 03-02-2022 05:34 AM

I once tried to play 12 string. Suffice to say I ended up just playing chords. That kind of finger pickin' ain't nowhere near easy.
