It's reality shows about the wrong people. I can't stand them.

I thought they hit the end of the road with "Dr. Pimple Popper"....

Oh come on, you have to be making that up. Who would watch a show of popping pimples. Honey Boo Boo was enough to make me want to puke. I would not watch a second of any show named Honey Boo Boo unless I was paid a few hundred buck a minute or more.

I remember when Discovery was a great channel. Then it devolved into utter trash for most of the shows.

To be fair, "Dr Pimple Popper" is really about removing cysts and other skin issues.

The really crazy show on TLC is "My Feet are Killing Me" about podiatrists. Never watched it but seen a few trailers. Serious hammer time feet. Really bad and you wonder how people let themselves get that far, health wise.

That show is not necessarily a reality show. It reminds me of those Emergency 911 shows from the late eighties/early nineties. It is a reenactment with interviews from the actual people involved. I watch a YouTube channel run by an OB/GYN and she evaluates the cases on this show. Evidently, it is not hard for her to explain how a mother can not know she was pregnant in each instance.

Maybe this should have been called Dr Baby Popper.

Not a word of a lie. When my wife had our first child, the other lady in the room at the hospital where she spent the night also had a baby on the toilet at home and didn’t know she was pregnant.

My wife said she called her mom and told her to go to Walmart and get a car seat so they could take the baby home. Also she was planning to go out to the bar that night.

She was quite puzzled why my wife was able to go home and wondered why we never had to see a social worker…

My point is that this happens more than you might think.

What’s amazing is this happens often enough to make a show out of it…

It's a dopamine relief fetish for those with far worse problems.
(reddit /popping has plenty of examples but that entire website has gone over the PC edge imo.)

There is probably a gif still out there of a Chinese woman squatting to drop a tres on the sidewalk and continue walking on.

Like faceless faces perpetually hidden behind masks, this is designed to dehumanize other people and destroy any innate fundamental separation of "right vs. wrong" in the psyche of today's youth.

And that is how much human lives matter....

There are a LOT of people wandering through their days (weeks, months...) both overwhelmed and detached from reality and/or living an alternate reality filled with alternative facts.
