Advice on "rubber hose" that will be part of F150 fuel system
2002 F150. Off with the old Ohio bed on with a new Arizona bed.
Vent/overflow pipe on fuel filler neck is larger on replacement bed than original. Bought reducers that drop it from 3/4" to 1/2". Picture shows the 1/2" pipe. What do I use for rubber hose to connect pipe to the tank? Heater hose? I would think that would degrade faster than fuel handling hose. Parts store guys gave that glassy eyed look. ![]()

I would definitely not use heater hose. I'd find something that was specifically intended to be for fuel.
If I search for "1/2 inch rubber fuel line" I get hits all over the place and listings for many of the regular auto parts stores. You need to hit different stores or talk to different guys at the stores that you went to. Maybe someplace like Napa? I also remember from when I had my old '88 targa, that some of the guys would recommend going to a place that made hydraulic lines to have the T-shaped line under the intake rebuilt. You could probably also check speed shops. Guys that are building high hp cars are likely to use big fuel line.

Bob, look at https://www.midwesthose.com/
They have hoses from tiny to big enough to fit your head. And rated for every type of product. The headquarters is just a few miles from my house. I bet they have something that will work. They have offices in many states.

Yep. Sigh. This kind of stuff eats so much time. Napa sounds the best. Maybe a marine store?

I'd go find me some stanky hose
![]() When I was done with that, I'd go get some fuel hose. Oh and Fred, I finally made it home! Sorry I didn't get to stop by.

Napa didn't have anything when i was switching a dump body on a GMC 1 ton. The new dump body had the access hole for the fuel tank in a different spot so needed a longer hose. Struck out at O'reilly's also. Ended up using a radiator hose and told the customer to order something to replace it with. He just stopped by yesterday to pick up his tri axle dump i did some work on and i checked the hose (same one i put on) it's all good.
So i guess what i'm saying is rad. hose will work in a pinch.

Every auto parts store should have 1/2" fuel injection hose... whether or not the kid behind the counter has enough brain cells to find it is a separate issue...
