Real Estate Market for the Birds
 

I put up nesting boxes for swallows around the end of April each year, but decided to get them out a couple of weeks early this year. As I was positioning the first one, my grand daughter exclaimed, "Look Grampy! There's a swallow!"
She was right. As I walked away, they were checking it out. I was about three yards away from the second before they checked it out. The third is mounted to the top of an old sailboat mast. I had just swung the mast to vertical when a swallow landed on top of the box. The wife took a picture of me trying to get the bolt in the base while the impatient bird is perched on their summer home.

My man cave garage has a working traffic light in between the two garage doors. This past Christmas my wife bought a " fake " traffic light to hang in front of our parking garage . The fake is a board with three metal cans mounted to it .

The setup is painted to look like a traffic light but is designed for birds to nest . I installed it a few weeks ago and it didn't take long for a bluebird pair to make it their home . Between all the feeders and various bird houses we have it's a full blown bird sanctuary here ! 😋

We have a bluebird house out back and every year the father and mother blue birds start scoping it out….my wife says it’s like HGTV for birds! It’s fun to watch them.
