How Many Gloves....

.....have you worn out in your lifetime?

I just came in from yard/garden work. 'Nuff said.

At one time, I worked in a lumber/plywood mill, mostly on the veneer side. Guys on one side of the green chain worked without a glove on their left hand, and the right hand was gloved, and those glove saw a LOT of friction from the moving edge of veneer. Guys on the other side were the opposite. We would get a pair of gloves from the company store and I would trade my left glove to someone on the other side so that i could have two right-hand gloves.

Oh....and for extra credit, for 24 hours only, you may guess who you believe will win this thread. I suspect Seahawk has a chance. Or Mr. Hancock.

When I was a plumber we didn't wear gloves, unless it was really cold but mainly I worked inside. I have worn out the most working on cars and riding motorcycles.

I used "Many", because I'm guessing over the past 50 years I have worn out about 2.5 pairs annually. I am including leather mitts which I used while working in the woods, as well as "dress" gloves. Sometimes I get a really good pair and I don't mind re-stitching them if the leather is right.
I've only got two hands, but gloves are cheap.

That sounds about right for me as well, maybe three depending. I probably lose a pair a year as well, one glove at a time, always the left hand

I buy these almost exclusively:

$25.00 plus shipping for 12. I keep them in a pail on a nail on a rafter in my shop so the mice don't set up a glove HOA.

I do go through at least 5 pair of "Latex Gloves Powder Free Diamond Grip Natural" a weekend. They work great under the gloves above as well.

Insulated gloves, specialty gloves I rarely wear out. I still have some Gortex Ski gloves from the '90's when we were teaching the kids how to ski. Bibs as well.

I have a pair of genuine Wells Lamont works gloves I have had for over 35 years. I use them when I shovel, or have to move heavy rough things like concrete blocks or rocks. I don’t dig in the dirt with them. I have several knock off cheap imitation versions that I use for dirtier work. They only last a year of less.

I have mechanic gloves that I use on HOT items on my car.

I hate wearing gloves, because they make my hands sweat like a race horse.

Worked in construction my whole life, I've probably worn out less than 5 pairs. I hate gloves. Rarely wear them. Didn't wear them pumping gas in the 70's in the winter, and I often took them off when skiing.

I didn't see an option for
"Why are you even asking? I've got better things to do than count how many gloves I use."

I went with 0-20 because I don't wear gloves unless it's cold outside.

I've worn out so many gloves I can't even count. Ski gloves, cycling gloves, motocross gloves, and work gloves of every stripe. I use them for everything. I love them!

No glove, no love.

Just since the first of this year, I couldn't count the number of pairs I've worn out.

Granted, they were latex/nitrile/exam gloves while I work on CT scanners...but still.

But the glove type you really mean, and not counting gloves I've lost, probably 25-30 pair.

I'm not sure if that's a lot, just guessing.

These are my fav. gloves right now:

I get the XL size.

I've also bought them on eBay

Work good for gardening, Supe.....

Gloves are disposable, not an heirloom to pass on…

Even my 3 year old expensive Black Diamond Guide gloves that still look really good are worn out with 100 ski days on them. The warmth in them just isn’t the same as when they were new.

A set of good work gloves lasts me a month or 2 doing farm stuff or work in the field. I was fencing yesterday and tore up my nice leather work gloves pretty good. They probably have a week or 2 left in them.

Eh, if you want to stretch the definition of "wear out" I think any of us who have worked in the medical field would win.

I use those disposable nitrile gloves. But use each pair a dozen time before I throw them out. Leather "riggers" gloves last me a year.

I don't usually wear gloves but I wear the nitriles when handling car paints and thinners, and wear the leather riggers gloves when cutting up steel to avoid steel splinters.

In my younger years, I spent a couple of summers pulling green chain in a sawmill...usually a pair a day...

We're required to wear cut resistant gloves at work so I go through a lot of gloves.

When I first started in the utility business as an engineering co-op student, they used us as grunts setting up test equipment (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTD's, air sample lines, etc) and it was amazing how many leather gloves we would wear out just hand tightening fittings.
